FRA: Changing planes

My parents are senior citizens and are traveling on Lufthansa and will be changing planes.

They have 1 hour and 35 minutes between flights and have not been to the airport.

Are there any tips to make navigating the airport easier?

They are arriving at gate Z66 and departing gate C17.

I will be giving them the map below.

Specific questions:

In order to get from Z66 to C17 do they need to take the Transfer Tunnel shown on the map or is there a faster way?

What if they arrive at gate B21 and need to get to C17. There are two routes to take. Are any of the security check points faster than others?

Oh dear! Z66 to C17 sounds like some of the worst connections I can think of. However, with a very few exceptions arrival and departure gates at FRA can change from day to day. I suggest you check the first post of the FRA connection thread in the LH forum (I have requested that your question should be moved there). C17 is an unusual gate for LH flights. May I ask where they are arriving from and departing to?

If their flight does arrive at Z66 if will take them 10+ mins to walk the Skyline train platform. They should take the Skyline train to B/C then it's another long walk to higher C gates. There will be transfer security on the way. There is really only one way to get there. The tunnel is in Schengen and does not help anyone going from Z to C.

If they have no mobility problem 1 hr 35 mins should be sufficient provided their incoming flight is not very late but they should expect to have to walk at least a mile or longer.

I will post this in that thread.

Somehow I knew this would become more difficult than it should be.

I will post over there. I have some more specific questions about the Skyline Train.

This is indeed a long walk ... but 1:35 is doable. I have such a long walk myself, despite from on of the A gates. It took me around 50 minutes without any rush and even a quick visit to the lounge.

Thank your for highlighting this post in the LH forum. However, I prefere to have the thread in the Germany forum since in the C gates are also used by other Star Alliance Airlines and at least from my memories not limited to LH planes.

Please follow the discussion in the Lufthansa Forum, linked in the posts above.

As an additional information, the C gates are also used by Star Alliance Airlines and despite a LH flight number, if might also be a codeshare partner. Usually you get this kind of information on your booking but also if you look the departure time and destination up on the Frankfurt Airport Homepage.

This thread will be closed
