I was thinking more in the way of altering your flights and paying a change fee rather than cancelling. I may have missed it but you don't say what your exact routing/airline is, but I'm sure there is a one-stop solution.

I am sorry for that. My flight is Lufthansa airlines. I booked my flight for about 950$, more than a month ago. I did inquire about the changing as well, the change fee would be around 132$, but the flight to which I get changed is in the 2000 $ range (With one stop in Germany, Lufthansa airlines).

OK, then you'll have to get the visa I suppose.

Everything worked out

Hey guys! Just wanted to update the post (3 years later) just in case it might be useful for others.

A visa was required, and they did stamp it at the airport. I was quick in making the transit so ended up at the gates about 15 minutes before boarding. Every information I received here was true and very helpful. Thanks again!

Yes, you need a Schengen Visa for the same reason as the OP.

To take a domestic flight within Germany (or between any two Schengen countries), you need to legally enter the Schengen zone at passport control.

Pls share the steps to get this visa.

Depending on the complexity, I will decide to cancel the booking or get this visa.

Hi Adithya,

Can you share your experience on transit times in frankfurt and munich.

My flight schuedule is US -> Frankfurt ( 1hr 20 min) --> Munich ( 1 hr) --> Delhi.

I suppose I will have to go through immigration process at Frankfurt and Munich. Is the transit time sufficient for this ?

Thanks

You can find all the necessary steps to get the Schengen Visa on the website of the German embassy / consulate https://www.germany.info/us-en/service/05-VisaEinreise. In my opinion it would be easier to try to change your routing so you don't need get a visa. For example US-FRA-DEHLI or US-MUC-DEHLI. Also your connection time in your routing does not give you any time buffer. One delay and you are stranded for at least one day.

Um, just read this thread from the beginning. It's the same situation and nothing has changed. flyingfkb has given you the link for Schengen visa information. It would indeed be much easier to avoid the intra-Schengen flight.
