Stuttgart - fly to Munich or Frankfurt?

Which airport is the better choice for flying into Germany and directly travelling by train to Stuttgart without an over night stay at the point of arrival? Looking at flights that arrive before noon and would like to make a same day connection. Never been to either airport so not sure how the two airports compare and what is involved in getting from the airport to the train to Stuttgart.

Thanks.

There are direct ICE trains from Frankfurt airport to Stuttgart, but why not fly right to Stuttgart? From Munich you would have to take an S-Bahn to the main station for a train to Stuttgart.

Frankfurt Airport to Stuttgart is 1 hr 15 min by train. Munich Airport to Stuttgart takes 2 hours longer.

It's probably quicker to get on the next available train than to fly FRA-STR.

I'm not sure where you are flying from, but if from the USA, UA flies n:cool:n-stop EWR-STR. The S-bahn goes right into the terminal at STR. It runs regularly and it's a short ride to downtown/Hbf.

If possible direct flight, otherwise FRA

How to get to Stuttgart?

Need help getting from Malta to Stuttgart. Air Malta flies to FRA and MUC. The flight to FRA arrives at 1810 or a flight the MUC arrives at 11.45 am.

Had wanted to buy a Rail and Fly ticket for my onward connection to Stuttgart but Air Malta is telling me they don't sell these tickets. I did call them and speak to them - on their website it shows that they do indeed have Fly and Rail tickets but nobody at Air Malta can book these when I call.

Wanted to buy a discounted Bahn ticket to travel to Stuttgart, but if the flight is delayed, I lose my rail ticket.

IF using Air Malta, what is the best option to get to Stuttgart - FRA or MUC?

How do the FLy and Rail tickets work? IS it a pass that allows me to travl on Bahn the day I arrive as well as the next day? IF so, I would fly a carrier to Germany that can book these tickets and take a day trip the day after I arrive in Stuttgart.

Thanks.

It's my understanding that Fly & Rail is a feature of Lufthansa. I have done it at least once FRA-STR and return, maybe around 8 or 9 years ago, and it was a nice service as it included a reserved seat on the train as well as transfers of checked luggage. Things may have changed since then and my memory is fading ...

Not just Lufthansa, pretty much all airlines:

Nice list, though United, Delta, Air Canada, Swiss (just checked the ones I may be taking) not included ... that's odd.

I booked one of these last week and took the train today. LH told me that because UA is their partner you can call them to book rail and fly with UA tix. I'm not sure I believe that but it is possible. As far as air Malta is c:)ncerned, you may want to call DB about that...
