A few questions. I'm planning on taking the ICE in first from Munich to Frankfut airport. Departure is 23:50, arrival is 5:12. This is Saturday night.
1. How early can I enter the Munich lounge? 2. Can I use the Frankfurt airport lounge on arrival from Munich, since it is so early? 3. What hours are the lounges open? Thanks! |
DB Lounge(s) in Frankfurt
If you have visions of these lounges being like their airport cousins, please readjust you expectations. A room with newspapers and a coffee and soft drinks machine. I would go to a restaurant or cafe. I travel a fair bit on DB and hardly ever bother with the lounges.

No cabanas with day beds?
I was actually just looking for a place to rest prior to departure from Munich in the evening, and check in to my international flight at 10.30am at Frankfurt. I have lounge access for the flight - it's just that check in probably won't be open until 7.30am. I'd pay money for a nice sofa after getting of the train at 5.12 am. |
I don't exactly know when the FRA lounge opens, but usually, the DB lounges don't open before 6:30am. I suggest you check back at bahn.de or even call the number for the FRA lounge and ask (the lounge phone numbers can alsobe found on the bahn.de website).
Getting into the lounge after your 1st class arrival from munich should not be a problem. |

I don't think I've been to that one, but I might have a look on Friday when I'm there!

I only know the lounge in Berlin. Better than waiting at the platform and the F section is not bad. But it`s no place you stay a few hours. Cabanas or something like that is not available. You won`t even find a shower

Thank you. Just for clarification, the "cabana" part was a joke. I had no expectations of that.

Today I've been to the lounge in Munich Hbf for the very first time and I have to say that I found it rather small.. probably not larger than the one at ZWS (Stuttgart Hbf), but space is additionally restricted by the F section. In my opinion, Frankfurt Central has the nicest first class section (very spacious feeling and a nice kind of garden with a tree in the middle).
Both Frankfurt Lounges (Airport and Central Station) are the two largest lounges in the entire network, and especially at the airport where connecting times are usually short, you will always find a quiet seat to take. However, check the opening times for early arrivals. |
