do we need to update the current forum description?
after a long thread in the europe forum, I was just wondering if you're all happy with the current forum description here in the Germany forum?
Germany as we know it is more than bratwurst, Bauhaus, cobbled streets, music festivals, hiking in the Black Forest, Oktoberfest, , the Zeppelin Museum, castles, baroque architecture, picturesque villages, beer gardens, medieval towns, half-timbered houses along the Romantic Road, vineyards along the Rhine River, the Alps and Wagner’s opera’s. chrissxb co-moderator germany forum |
not really as its just a long list of cliches ...
|
We make everybody aware that Germany is more than the cliches mentioned, but leave open, what it is.
|
It's actually a very long list... While I do not have a problem with the general idea behind this description as pointed out by Flying Lawyer I would suggest to reduce the length of description. Or does anybody acutally keep on reading after lets day 'Oktoberfest'?
Personally, I'd prefer a more positive and direct description with some things you can discover or experience in Germany beside cliche. |

Personally, I'd prefer a more positive and direct description with some things you can discover or experience in Germany beside cliche. Maybe something like "Apart from the very well known cliches like Oktoberfest and sausages, modern Germany stands for ..... (you name it) and therefor is attractive to both leisure and business travelers. |
Just pleeease fix the grammatical error of "Wagner's opera's" to read "Wagner's operas".

"as we know it"
Remove this phrase from the description - very sophomoric. |

I agree with all of the above but personally I like the style of the description of the U.K. and Ireland forum. ;)
BTW why are there two commas after Oktoberfest? |

In fact, this is a recurrent topic here. |
I have always hated that descrption. I would suggest something like this:
We all love the castles, Oktoberfest, and driving fast on the autobahn, but Europe's largest economy has so much more to offer. Discover all about Germany here. |
