Need day-pass lounge in MUC / T2 during US transit

Hi everyone,

I read couple of similar threads but couldn't really get a straight answer. My mom will have to spend 8 hours in MUC, terminal 2 connecting from ESB (Ankara, Turkey) to SFO (San Francisco). She doesn't have Schengen visa.

I'm quite confused on folks referencing the G/H levels, visa restrictions between Terminals 1 and 2 and thus wanted to ask specifically.

She doesn't know a word of German and very little of English. I'll try to make her as comfortable as possible but providing specific instructions to a lounge so she can rest/sleep a bit before the long flight.

I read here that Lufthansa lounge doesn't have day-pass feature, which is concerning.

What day-pass lounge options, if any, does she have? She's arriving and departing from Terminal 2 and both legs are on Lufthansa. She has no status on any program.

Thanks in advance.

Your mum will be out of luck. She needs to stay in the transit area of T2 and the only lounges to my knowledge available are the LH lounges. There are, however, a lot of eating places, so she will not be starving.

But maybe you wish to check the airport's website:

If you look at the Miles&More Forum, there is a sticky at the top of the threads named Lounge meetings (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...-meetings.html).

People with status advertise when they are in what lounge at what airport and many are willing to help (eg inviting your mom as a guest if they are SEN). You might want to contact one of these people, especially since even FTL can now bring a guest (against a fee, though) into the Business Lounge.

Probably the only Lounge option there is, however as Flying Lawyer mentioned, T2 has some nice restaurants and LH provides coffee and tea for free to all passengers in the hall, so it is probably one of the best places to be 'stuck'.....

Hope this helps

One more idea.... Do you have any possibility of upgrading her.... After all, you want her to be as comfortable as possible as you mentioned above....

The MUC T2 H level will be fine for her, plenty of free coffee and tea, decent seats to sit on, and if she is willing to part with some money, food places galore.

Arranging for a FTer to guest her into the SEN lounge (the FTL H lounge is no good as there is no food and it get crowded fast) may be an option, but if she cannot speak much english this will be very very difficult to co-ordinate.

Thanks everyone for responses -- very useful and much appreciated. FT'ers helping others on lounge access is pleasantly surprising.

I skimmed through the list for guest-access offers and have not seen one that matches her date/time/place of travel, but will check again.

Unfortunately I don't have a chance to upgrade her due to $ reasons.

I'll pass along the details on levels/restaurants as well. Thank you.

Actually, the FTL H has snacks (like small meat loaf = Frikadellen) during "meal time".

I know a lot of people don't post when they'll be in LH lounges themselves but still check the lounge meeting thread in case someone is around at the same time. It might be worth posting the date/time when your mother will be in MUC in the thread in case someone may be able to help.

+1 to the above, I often don't find the time to post all my flights, so add your request!
