Pass, or don't pass?

Please discuss...

Pass. Craps is a social game, and betting against the crowd defeats the purpose. If I wanted to bet against my fellow players I'd play poker, which is much more profitable.

My answer exactly.

Only time I play Don't Pass is when someone really pisses me off.

I use the second-roll Come bet for such people.

basically Pass-Line.

I played the don't for around a year, as an experiment (mostly @ Argosy Indiana). It really gets rather boring. If you have the patience and nerve; the doey-don't or Patrick systems can bring you very small grind profits --- but, neither really interested me very much. (I hate grinding, just don't have the patience)

As many have said, Craps is about the action and socializing.

Only thing I'll add, is that Craps presents some great opportunities to really seize the moment when you have a hot shooter. This might involve going up on more numbers and pressing multiple bets. If you are on the don't --- you basically just sit on the sidelines waiting for the 7-out (and having an extra Don't-Come is hardly going to add very much to the excitement).

When I get to a dice table, I'll often just place bet the 6 and 8 for a while, until I feel comfortable. I never go up on the pass-line right away, as I pretty much always believe in taking full odds behind the line; and that can be a real killer on the bankroll. I prefer to just take things slow. The beauty of dice is the incredible amount of betting opportunities. You just need to learn to capitalize on those opportunities at the right time. ;)

Pass Line. Stickman smirks or fondles the dice and passes a 7 to the shooter and then how sweet it is when the shooter throws the point ^

The important thing is not whether you bet right or wrong, but whether the cocktail dress of the girl on your arm matches the stone in your pinky ring.

I'm with everyone else...craps is a social game...pass line all the way.
I had the honor of playing next to a hot shooting, chain smoking, just married bride last weekend in Las Vegas...
She was making us lots of money.
For me its all about the energy of the table, and I follow the bets that the others are making.

Seven out, line in; don'ts win.

As a just retired craps (and blackjack) dealer, I gotta tell you that the stickperson (nor any of the other casino workers) should really care. If the stickperson is passing the dice with a seven showing to a right-way bettor or with the point number showing to a wrong-way bettor, (s)he probably isn't expecting a tip from that player.

Playing craps is about socializing. People in general don't like to be the first person to come to a dead craps game.

I've dealt to a whole table full (about ten people) of don't-pass bettors and they were having a ball yelling for the seven-out. A right-way bettor came to the table and they booed him away. The crew catered to them. We rooted for the seven because the players wanted the seven. And they tipped us.

(but I'm happy to be done with it, at least for now)

When I used to go to Vegas with Mrs. 500 and we were playing craps at the same time we would occasionally bet the don't pass when the other one was rolling just to annoy them :D

My wife bets against me when I bank on Pai Gow Poker. (Its so she can play the fortune bet.)

We've got one guy in our AC crew who we call row; anyway, he can't roll to save his life. @ Showboat in AC, there were 5-6 of us at the table, and a few other folks. Anyway, as soon as row gets the dice, we all immediately go up on the DON'T. Actually, I also put $ on the "3" --- yeah, he hit the "3" immediately. Then, point --- and 7 out within 2 rolls. I've said we should just go up on the DON'T for table maximum when row is shooting, as it's as close to a sure thing as you get @ the dice table. :D:D

BTW, this is a video of that session; I'm stick left (Celtics Rondo shirt) --- This was a piece of amazon's lousy roll (right when we got to the table) -- but, we made it up a bit later, with my lovely ladies and one other unknown shooter's rolls.
