TR Harrah's New Orleans - Diamond benefits

Was at a conference in New Orleans last week and visited the Harrah's there. Found some things of interest I wanted to pass along.

The Diamond Lounge is called the Palm Room and it is inside the high roller area.

Hot food is served the entire time the lounge is open (starting at 4 PM except Sundays which is noon). Around 15 minutes prior to opening, a crowd starts hanging around the check in desk, but they didn't start swiping cards until opening time. The 3 days I ate there it was more than sufficient for a dinner. Friday they had shrimp and a prime rib carving station. All three days the meal totally beat anything I've had in Vegas.

It is not unlimited "adult" drinks and you can get a coupon at check in for 4 drinks per account. If you bring a guest, you'll need to share you drinks with them. You can use the drink cert outside of the Palm Room, but they recommend you use it there. This wasn't that much of a concern for me since I was getting drinks at the machines anyway so the 4 drink limit didn't bother me.

I qualified at just over 15K TC's last year so had to pay the 1K RC entry fee. Not sure how it is in Vegas (and will check next week) but at Harrah's New Orleans, it is unlimited entries without having to pay the 1K each time. I was usually there right at opening and would eat, then come back later to grab a Red Bull and/or water to go.

For drinks at the machines (video poker/slots) you make your orders via the machine and they bring it to you. You can order different well drinks as well as draft beer for free but bottle beer costs $2-$3 each. As a Diamond (with the card inserted, there is no charge for the bottled beer). I'm not sure about other levels, but met someone at the conference who was charged for the beers as a Gold.

I wasn't staying at Harrah's so can't talk about the rooms but I did see a kiosk where you could claim a voucher for parking. I walked over from my hotel so don't know if it covered the entire cost of parking at the property, or if it was a discount.

That is all I can remember for now. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best part is that it's a nonsmoking casino (they have "outdoor" gaming areas for smokers).
Tough to get a comp room on the weekends, though.. (as a Diamond)

LOVED the indoor smoke-free design. My brother joined me on the trip and he smokes so he'd go out there but didn't care for the machines they had so would save his gambling for when he came back inside.

They did have a "TR App" presentation for $20 in free play or a buffet while I was there. I went to sign up and they said it was 45 mins long and mostly covered the app and how to make best use of status benefits. With the meal in the Palm room, really didn't need the buffet and 45 mins for $20 free play that wouldn't help me gain Tier Credits didn't seem worth it so I passed :D
