Borgata as part of mLife -- two quick questions

Hi all,

I just received my mLife card from the Borgata which as many of you are aware will switch over around June 6-7. I tried looking for answers to a couple questions on the FAQ's but found nothing, and was wondering if anyone had any helpful information.

1. Will Borgata be considered a partner in Hyatt's loyalty program, since there is an existing relationship with mLife?

2. Can Tier Credits be earned for non-gaming dollars spent at Borgata? Currently the earning rate is 25 Tier Credits per dollar spent in Las Vegas, and less in Mississippi and Detroit (10 or so Tier Credits per dollar spent).

Thanks in advance,

nottooshabby

They haven't even updated their FAQ to include how many tier credits and points per dollar you earn at National Harbor either. I'd be interested to hear the answer for both Borgata and National Harbor.

Borgata will be another Mlife casino, so technically Mlife is a Hyatt partner. So that remains the same.

Tier earnings are unknown are the moment, but we'll know soon enough.

We (TravelZork) plan on testing this at Borgata on the 7th or 8th of June. Unfortunately, our focus is mostly Atlantic City and Vegas, so no plans to gather data at National Harbor, but will add to the list.

Keep us posted with the tier earnings, since yeah, they haven't included that in any communication.

This whole thing with the merge is a complete, utter mess. Two different cards, two different account numbers, even two different tiers. You can use one at the others, but not the others at the one. I told the lady at Mlife that it was confusing, because I thought Mlife was Mlife, and she said there's nothing confusing about it. Yeah, ok. I'm booked under my real Mlife number, but you can rest assured that the Gold card will be the one I actually utilize while making my rounds in Vegas.

If I'm understanding correctly, it sounds like your old Borgata account wasn't matched to your existing Mlife account, but instead they created a new Mlife account with a different number?

I saw someone post on Borgata's facebook page with this issue and the Borgata facebook account told them to go to the mlife desk with both cards and their id and they would "fix it." But it seems like there might be some ways to use this to your advantage, at least in the short term.

Yes, they did create a whole new account. They are also aware that they did. My SO did not get a new number, by the by, and had her tier credits adjusted to add Borgata play. Me, having an entirely different number, got zero adjusted. They have said I can merge the two Mlife accounts if I go to AC, but I'll be in Vegas before then, so it won't help. More importantly, they've also more recently (aka today) said there has been no communication, yet, that they will tier match.

Furthermore, if you haven't seen it elsewhere, the new Borgata Mlife card can be used in AC or Vegas, but the card/account you got in Vegas or Detroit cannot be used in AC. Fancy that.

You're gonna have to message me any advantages, because my level of annoyance with this is off the chart, haha.

Wow, that does sound annoying, especially if you're not local to AC to get things fixed.

The advantage I was considering is a lot of times casinos seem to give more generous comps to new accounts to get them hooked. So if you play at a relatively high level on a new account I wonder if you could reap some extra comps. I've personally experienced this at Total Rewards properties and Cosmo, though not as much with Mlife.

As for tier match, I wouldn't hold much hope. That would be a huge backdoor for people to get status (and free parking) at the Vegas properties.

This process looks like it did not go entirely smoothly. The Borgata website was down for longer than I assume they planned and still isn't entirely functioning, and the hold times for calls (even for non-gaming related calls) are crazy at the moment. Plus they haven't updated the phone system, which still asks for your My Borgata Rewards card #, and seems to error out if you provide it. I've got to imagine the lines at the Mlife desk at Borgata are going to be crazy for a while to come.

Am I correct in understanding from the posts above that someone with an existing Vegas Mlife card can't just bring it to use at the Borgata? Very annoying as I am going to Borgata next weekend with a friend who didn't get a mailer from Borgata with a new card (as his address wasn't up to date) and I assume that means he'll have to wait in a long line at the Mlife desk to get a new card, rather than being able to use a card he already has from Vegas.

Also, in my mailer from Borgata, it appears they did manage to match my existing Mlife account with my Borgata account -- the Mlife card that Borgata sent me had my existing Mlife number on it. So they got something right. But Borgata sent me a Platinum Mlife card, but now Mlife.com shows me as Sapphire. I had matched Hyatt Diamond status to Mlife Platinum last year; not sure how long that's supposed to last for but until the last few days I was still showing as Mlife Platinum, so somehow that got messed up in this Borgata transition. And worse, I definitely had at least enough tier points last year to qualify for Pearl, so even if the status match is meant to be dead, they've taken away a status I actually earned, too.

Anyone else having similar status problems? I'm guessing Borgata won't know how to fix it so might ask one of the Vegas properties to match my current Hyatt status to Mlife Gold and call it a day. There's not too much difference between Gold and Platinum and I still have the physical Platinum card I was sent to flash at Vegas taxi queues if needed.

Snafus on www.theborgata.com

I got a mailing from Borgata with my "new" MLIFE card--the account number is my Vegas MLIFE acct number (but this card has a white tag attached).
At www.theborgata.com (which is now working), it has me as PLAT until 9/2018.
In the Borgata mailing they are crediting me for play since 10/1/16 with 218,000 Tier Points, hence PLAT.
At www.mlife.com a week ago I had 190,000; now after merger 303,000--so if this includes Borgata, those TPs must count less than Vegas(?)
I had a room booked at Borgata through my slot host, that res. is GONE:td:, so I rebooked it on their web-site--lots of people are going to show up at Borgata and be turned away, since their previous reservations are GONE:confused:

Yeah it seems like a mess. I had a booking which no longer showed on Borgata.com but when I called it was still there, so I think there may just be some kinks in the website. May be worth checking that you're not now double-booked.

And to add to the complications I mentioned in my post, Borgata.com still shows me as Mlife Platinum, but Mlife.com shows me as Sapphire. I think if anything I earned Pearl or maybe Gold (if some credit is provided for historical Borgata play) last year. I just requested a Hyatt match to Gold to be done with it but it's clear there are quite a few kinks still to be worked out. This weekend will probably be rather chaotic at the Borgata.

I tried calling 866-MYBORGATA after half an hour on hold I quit. Their main number 609-317-1000 was busy.
I emailed my slot host...let her straighten things out.:D
A day ago www.mlife.com showed 303,000 TCs, noting I was PLAT, but the card was GOLD--now they are updated it shows a PLAT card.^

Nice! Not sure what will actually push you to Noir, but I wouldn't be surprised if you got a call or visit after a nice future trip.

bgriff Jun 12, 2017 9:38 am

It looks like they have managed to sort out whatever issues they were having -- my Borgata.com and Mlife.com accounts both now show Platinum again (which is possibly more than I have actually earned, but is at least consistent with the mailer Borgata sent me announcing the transition, so I'm not going to ask any more questions).

Advantages can be huge. YMMV. But, I'm not it's not something that would be elaborated on in a public forum. Though, most can probably figure out the direction of the advantages.

Of course, a lot depends on your usage and the properties (Mlife) you visit.

Slightly off topic, but since we have some knowledgeable Borgata people going on this thread...

A few friends and I usually visit the Borgata for a weekend trip once or twice a year, arriving on Saturday midday and leaving Sunday early to mid afternoon and staying on site.

We have always booked just the Saturday night stay, which every time leads to the frustration of Borgata's 11am checkout time, which can be maddeningly early to have to get up and get packed and showered if Saturday turns into a late night.

It had never occurred to me before, but we almost always have a comp stay offer for Sunday night, even when we have to pay something for Saturday. Would there be any downside to booking a 2-night stay for both Sat and Sun nights (at no extra cost) and then just checking out later Sunday afternoon?

It has always been my impression that Borgata's main player ranking is based on total play per trip, but I haven't done many two night trips so I don't know if it might have an element of play per hotel night in which case doing this would dilute our offers from Borgata. Though a third possibility is that there is an element of play per gaming day (which runs 4am-4am or something like that) in which case we're already getting our value diluted anyway since we usually gamble for a few hours before leaving on Sunday.

Or is everyone else doing this already and I'm just the dumb one who never thought of it?
