Total Rewards CC - a little confused

SO I got the TR Card with the hopes of putting some $$$ on it to earn comps/credit/status.

Sadly I think I didn't really read the fine print. It seems the only way to earn Tier Credit (that applies to your status) is via gaming/casino purchases.

I thought that using the card (I don't live in Vegas) to pay bills and all the normal stuff (and pay right off) would help me accrue Tier Credits but it does not seem to be the case. Correct?

That being the case - is there any value in the Credit Rewards Balance as it relates to tier credit?

My original goal was to spend spend spend to get to diamond status (no resort fees) but it seems that may not happen.

Is there any way (outside of the casino) to churn to get tier credit?

thanks in advance!!

Sadly, no. You're only earning Reward Credits from non-casino purchases, and only earning tier credits at the casino when you charge to your room (which you can in turn use your TR Card to pay off).

You want Diamond you gotta play play play, win a Diamond Poker tournament, get a status match, or get a Founderscard. The TR card can get you some niceties and Platinum status, but not Diamond nor any comps from spend.

Earlier this year it looked like CET wasn't going to renew TR Diamond simply for having the Founder's Club. At about the same time I got an email from the TR CC saying if I spent $10K in 3 months (IIRC), they'd renew my Diamond.

As far as I can tell, this was only offered to lapsed Diamonds and in the end, CET did renew FC members so it didn't matter. About all the card is good for is for building up reward credits and keeping them from expiring. Since it is free I'll hang on to it.
