Definitely not everyone is approved. I am at the very beginning stages of a start up medical business. Still currently in a managerial position at a regional hospital for benefits and to pay the bills for now. Called regarding 295 a year if paid two years in advanced. Was given the code and was sent like 6 additional emails with invites to complete application. So I completed the application received a call from Membership services asking for my linked in account (mine was not updated). Inquired a few days later and was told I was put on a waiting list. Inquired a week later and was said there were many people a head of me. Inquired by email with out a response. 3 weeks pass I call and ask if there is any movement and said I would get a response by end of business day. 10 min later I get an email saying we are not able to approve your application based on the other applications they have received. I have a strong suspicion they would prefer to approve someone with out the 295 a year code ...Lol .... oh well may be a blessing in disguise. Was able to get CET diamond from matching a local casino and better travel options with AMEX platinum and Chase sapphire reserve.

Maybe they are finally vetting the card a little better.

Here's my real world experience using the FC/Diamond perk. Just got back from 4 days in LV, comped at Ballys (not hard to do at any card level). Upgraded to a suite in the Jubilee tower (no $20 trick for me, just asked). Both wife and I got our $100 celebration meal vouchers, used the first at Hell's Kitchen restaurant, second at Ruth's Chris. Both excellent meals. Took in two shows with free tickets (both seated in VIP area), took in another show with 50% discount for tickets. Finally, needed a late checkout due to afternoon flight and it was an automatic extension due to Diamond. We did very little gambling on this trip, as it was mainly planned for shows and dining with a little poking around at things we'd never done in Vegas before. Out of pocket was maybe $400 - $500 total. We also used up the $300 in RC's we had accumulated using the TR Visa card. Final discount was opting out of the housekeeping for $30 off the bill at checkout (make sure you put at least $30 in room charges to use the $30 off).

Should mention, both wife and myself are FC/Diamond card for $395 a year.

So final tally is:

$200 in food comps
$140 in resort fee savings
4 show tickets at $40 each (I only value them at the tix4tonite prices) - I highly recommend Bronx Wanderers at Ballys and John Caparulo at Harrahs (only if you are not offended by language)
2 show tickets at 50% discount $40 each

Total savings for 4 days using the FC/Diamond perk $540.

Finally, as we were flying back Sunday afternoon and had a two for one buffet coupon, we decided to do brunch at the Paris Le Village buffet. Being mother's day, the line was monumental, we went to the diamond entrance and there was one person ahead of us. Another advantage of the late checkout is it avoids most of the crowd that checkout at the usual 11am.

Keep in mind, we've never desired to be any more than gold card level players (platinum from TR Visa) at CET, so the FC perk is perfect for us. We get very little in free play and very little in other perks from CET, we went into the Diamond lounge at Paris last year and have no desire to go back, let alone pay for the privilege.

Any questions on specifics I'd be glad to answer.
Reveen and philly65 like this.

You have to have ID, but you can get tickets a few days out for a show. You simply go to any TR desk in vegas and ask for a list of the free shows for diamond. They will let you know what is available and print you a voucher for the 2 free tix. You then go to any box office and they will get you the tix you want pending they are available. After you have the tickets you can do anything you want with them. We give away more nowadays than we actually go to watch. You only need ID to get the voucher and to cash in the voucher. After that the tickets are usable by anyone.

After getting FC, do you have to go and request Diamond, or do you just wait and it happens automatically?

You have to request it via the FC page.

Request it and it can take anywhere from 2-4weeks to have it updated to your account.

Hello all. I'm definitely late to the party on acquiring a Founders Card specifically for the Total Rewards Diamond benefits. With the 2018 changes to Diamond, and no longer getting free access to Diamond Lounges -- I'm kind of on the fence about going for the Founders Card.

I do have the Total Rewards Visa card that I use monthly for business expenses, so I build up a fair amount of Reward Credits via purchases made... which would give me plenty enough RC's to use for entry to the Lounges. My question on this is... if you're paying $10 in Reward Credits for access to the lounges, does that only cover yourself - or would the entry fee cover you and a guest?

Just an extra bit of context... I actually live in Vegas, so for the most part the free resort fees wouldn't be that much of a value benefit for me. The value benefits I can see from a local perspective would be the Diamond Lounge access, 2 free show tickets per month, and the $100 yearly dinner credit. There are certainly other benefits like jumping to the Top of the line if you're a poker player and playing poker at a Caesars property, as well as other line jump perks. (free parking as well, but I already have that from the TR Visa)

Just looking for some input on whether you guys think FC is worth it for a Vegas local now given the new 2018 changes. And if you guys have the good Founders Card Referral code for waived signup fee and $249 per year, shoot it on over in your reply.

Thanks in advance guys!

The fee only covers you. If you bring a guest you'll need to double it. If I lived in Vegas I wouldn't worry about the Diamond Lounge unless I was coming to town for one of the free shows each month or the annual dinner. Depending on how much you pay for FC, the dinner and shows would more than cover the annual cost of the card. If you go by yourself to the shows, you can actually get one ticket to 2 different shows each month.

The 1,000 RC's are per person. We don't do the lounges, so not a worry for us either way.

My vote is you don't need the FC. The TR Visa gets you most of the perks you need as a Vegas local. With the amount of days I stay at a CET property, my savings come from the waived resort fees. Diamond check in to the Hotels is another perk I like, again you don't need it. Save your money and treat yourselves to a nice dinner and a show.

The thing to remember is the shows are second tier shows and 2 for 1 coupons and free tickets abound. Or you go to tix4tonight to get some cheap seats. I would not let the "free" show tickets influence my decision. Unless you just have to have the questionable prestige of Diamond, there is no reason for a Vegas local, with automatic Platinum through the TR Visa to need the FC.

That's actually shocking as the sales team pushes the card extremely hard due to the insane turnover and people cancelling the FC subscription yearly. if they lost the TR partnership I don't think many people would be left.
