Exclamation Harrah's Diamond/Seven Star's 15,000/150,000 Tier for 2014

I have been told by tow people at the Total Rewards counter at both The Quad & The Flamingo, confirming that current tier requirements will be raised to the following:

Diamond: 15,000 tier points for a full $75,000 of play.
Diamond will be in three sub tiers at 15/60/80,000 tier points.

My take it that most diamonds will see their benefits reduced while, those at the upper levels may receive some increased benefits, though with great play requirements.

Seven Stars will now start at 150,000 tier, for $750,000 play.

The idea seems to be to eliminate the many (in relative terms) people would just are able to earn the 100,000 credits, the cool half million of play.

To put this in perspective, under the current program at 120,000 you got a second Seven Star enhancement trip, now you won't even be a Seven Star.

Can you tell me about the 120,000 "second 7* enhancement trip", I've never seen any reference to that perk? At http://www.sevenstarsinsider.com/ I don't see this mentioned either.
There is a 7* Level I, for reaching 125,000, but that perk gives you two $500 shopping sprees, one in AC on the Pier Shops and one in LAS at the Forum shops in CP.
They were running a match 5000 tier point promo nationwide for the month of December, which would make attaining 7* (or one of the Levels a bit easier).
Assuming they don't do this again to help boost tier points, getting 150,000 might prove much more difficult.
PS: With the casinos in AC, which have been earning less than ever due in a large part to hurricane Sandy, Pennsylvania's legalized gambling and the casino at Aqueduct drawing more business than any of the AC casinos, I think raising the tiers requirements is a big mistake on Harrah's part.

The total rewards website has been updated, so it's official
https://www.totalrewards.com/TotalRe...age=trBenefits
  • 5,000 tier for platinum
  • 15,000 tier for diamond
  • 150,000 for 7*

It was rumored at 7* Insider that there will be bonus tier points for meeting certain thresholds in a day. I do not see any mention of this on totalrewards.com.
  • 500 tier in a day = 125 bonus tier
  • 1,000 tier in a day = 1,000 bonus tier
  • 2,500 tier in a day = 5,000 bonus tier

If those bonuses end up being real then the increase in tier points required will not be as bad. Otherwise my days of having status at CET may be over. I missed diamond this year, so if life as a platinum is not worth it I won't bother trying to re-qualify this year.

I asked my slot host (at Caesars AC) about the new 7* base tier being 150,000--and she said (as you noted) that they wanted to "weed out" players who just squeaked through with 100,000; she noted that there were 69 such people (I guess the number she quoted was for Caesars AC and not the whole system).
At the end of my play on 1/1/13, I noted my tier score, but when I checked the next day it had gone up by 5,000--I thought it was an error, since at the time I didn't know about the bonuses^.
Thanks for the posting the updated info.

free slot play makes getting tier points easier

In AC (where I play the most), they have promos, where on almost a daily basis, you get free play; in addition, they give you bonus fp, based on your accumulated tier points for a given trip. (I don't know, yet, whether this last perk is still in effect--I'll find out in a few days, when and if, I get an email.)
In LAS, they used to give you fp (based on your play in one month period), that perk disappeared about 2 years ago. NOW, on a very limited basis, they have promos offering fp.
It is always nicer to play with their money and not your own.
[In Harrahs system, play using fp does count into your (base) tier score. In the MGM system it does NOT, neither in Borgata's system.]

My husband and I each received mail yesterday with the details (diamond level - although the mail says platinum as at the time of sending we were ~300pts short). Looks to me like they're trying to weed out players that show up once a week and play for 200 pts a trip to make diamond. Understandable I guess. If you've been to AC, you know the diamond lines at the restaurants, etc, are longer than the gold!

I just wish they'd have joint accounts the way Tahoe used to.

Do I have this right?

Diamond will be achievable with 2 days play at 2500 TCs earned per day + 10000 bonus tier credits and Seven Star's will similarly be achievable with 20 days play at 2500 TCs earned per day + 100000 bonus tier credits.

This would suit me. I earned 35000 TCs in about 15 days play last year. it will provide greater chance/incentive to heavy hitters who are infrequent visitors perhaps for geographical reasons who had little chance under the old criteria of achieving Seven Star (if that can be called an achievement) .

As LOCommish pointed out it will probably weed out the daily visitors to the diamond lounges who got their entire nourishment and alcoholic intake for the year comped by Total Rewards for the 30 or so TCs they earned a day. Now they will have to bump their play up 50% or find a soup kitchen that serves Pina Coladas

Edit: On second thoughts I suppose they could still go to the Diamond Lounge daily but cut their play by 50% overall only gambling on 2 days each year but they would have to have a big bankroll available those 2 days

Yes, your computations are correct--I think that they want people that play a significant amount per day over those playing small(er) amounts over an extended period.
AC is their biggest market with a huge population base. So people were able to come for even a day, do a small amount of gambling, but doing it often, probably swelled the 7* and diamond group.

As I told a friend of mine, most people will loose on this, though my friend who does put 2,500 TRC's on her card in a visit, could be diamond in 2 visits. Based on the low play that I have recieved, I wonder how many people who will stop playing at Harrah's as a result??

For AC players, which Harrah's has to keep, since there is so much nearby competition, the "bonus" feature, makes the new system a good deal.
As I noted in #2, they give lots of free play, which can be banked, so saving to play a lot in one day can be very profitable, especially if that day is a multiplier day.
Example: for the AC casinos Jan. 1 was a 13x (and possibly an additional 5x) rewards credits day. So if someone played 2500 TC, they would get an additional 32,500 (or more) Rewards Credits, which can be converted into free play (at 2:1) = $162.50 which can be used (in combination with other free play) to help make your next visit into another 2500 TC day--playing with their money. Even getting 1000 TC (which they will match) is not a bad deal either. [Except for a promo in December of 2012, I can't remember a time when they let you "magnify" your tier credits--now, beginning Jan. 1, you can do this everyday.]

Bonus tier points confirmed.

Total Rewards Site

Two big trips will earn you diamond. I assume diamond in a day is gone, or will be increased to 5,000 tier points.

The math on that page confuses me. The examples don't make sense to me, but that just may be the cabernet.

There are also different levels of diamond. 40k tier gets you a free 4 night stay at any destination. 80k tier gets you a free flight for that free stay. Not sure where the cutoff for free diamond lounge in AC will be.

Chances are this will keep me from making diamond (missed this year anyway), but the daily tier bonuses make the tier level increases seem reasonable to me. As long as I keep getting comped/discounted rooms I will probably stick with CET.

For the first two examples, I believe there is a typo--the first lines should state 500 not 2500.
Also they state that your tier status in 2012 is valid through all of 2013. For all the time I've been in the TR program, cutoffs were through the end of March of the following year--has this changed?

It looks like the changes will work great for me - I might even make Seven Stars (instead of mid-range Diamond) with around the same play as 2012. And even if I don't, the new tiers inside Diamond are helpful - although why not have actual different tiers (i.e. instead of within Diamond)?

Is the 24 hr day at Harrah's Las Vegas midnight to 11:59 pm? If not what defines a "day" of play for the bonus tier points?
