OT: Hurricane Sandy shutting down AC, what happens for guests staying in casinos?

I have always wondered this but never really asked: What happens to guests staying at casinos if a hurricane hits and the State shuts down causing casinos also to shut down? Case in point: Hurricane Sandy shutting down New Jersey which is also causing casinos to cease ops during the hurricane (Borgata notice here- http://www.theborgata.com/hurricane-sandy).

Of course no gaming ops but what happens if for example I have a reservation that states I was going to check out this Monday 10/30? Is the hotel obligated to extend the reservation? Are people staying at these casinos relegated to their rooms?

I could be wrong but a few years back I was in Atlantic City during a huge blizzard and the state did shut down but gaming ops weren't affected (as I recall).

All hotels were evacuated. You are not allowed to stay. A state order for emergency evacuation takes precedence over any potential reservation.

A hurricane at a beach front resort is much different than a big snowstorm.

Other than minor staff, to keep an eye on things, the casinos (and hotels) in Atlantic City are effectively shut down.

Q&A from Revel Resorts (basically, the same everywhere else) :

Q: Will the Hotel be open?
A: Revel will close at 12 noon, Sunday, October 28 and is expected to remain closed until the Atlantic City mandatory evacuation is lifted and safety inspections are completed.

Crazy. I'd love to see some photos if you have some.

I hope AC dries up before my visit prior to Thanksgiving!

I apologize if my original quote was misconstrued or misunderstood by people. I was just in disbelief that AC was flooded.

I wonder how casinos in the Marina area (Golden Nugget, Harrahs, Borgata) are making out, since they are not directly on the ocean (and do have a land buffer)--presumably better than the (rest) boardwalk casinos?

Besides damage to infrastructure, casinos closures, essentially, equate to money never recouped--in the millions of dollars. "Fortunately" this is/was a weekday storm, on their slowest days--a weekend storm would be much worse $wise.
