Total Rewards DIAD: no renewals, or one-time only?

Hi,

I am interested in trying the Total Rewards DIAD challenge (3000 tier points in 24hrs for instant Diamond Status). I go infrequently to Vegas, but I have enough play to do this perhaps each time I go, and maintain Diamond that way.

I heard that you cannot use it to renew your expiring Diamond, and I know that in general it only gets you diamond until the next March expiration. What I am not clear on, however, is if it can be done repeatedly, for example once you fall out of Diamond (presumably back to gold). Anyone know?

Thanks
Arthur

I didn't think the exp was annual but within 6 months.

As long as you drop back to gold, you can do it again and again.

DIAD isn't done by a lot of people.

In my experience, the diamond lasts until the end of the next following March. So, if you did DIAD in February 2012, you would be a valid diamond member until March 31, 2013 and would drop back to gold on April 1st, 2013.

Since room offers, tournament offers, promotional offers are all based on your play (and theoretical loss); you don't have to have diamond to get decent offers as long as your play is strong. Of course, in most cases, if your play is strong it's not particularly difficult to accumulate 11,000 tier in a 12 month period to qualify for diamond status. ;)

Thanks. You appear to be correct about being able to repeat DIAD. The duration, however, is not quite that clear cut.

Total Rewards customer service informed me that if you achieve DIAD March-Nov, it expires the next March (so <1 yr duration, whereas the traditional Diamond tier lasts that + 1 year). If you achieve it Dec-Feb, it lasts past the next March and expires on the following March.

If I understand their explanation correctly, if you achieve it in December, and only December, it has the exact same duration as if you had achieved it with 11,000 tier points.

I will be attempting this in a couple weeks, just for giggles.
