mgm mirage going to a tiered system

I notice that on www.playersclub.com MGM-Mirage is going over to a tiered system for their Players Club. The info there is very sketchy, does anyone have more info?

MGM Mlife tiers

Vegastripping.com has a recent article on the various tiers and the points required to reach them.

Also, the official website, mlife.com, is now online.

Some tier details are HERE.

[Note : this is a Beau Rivage listing, as the tier program will not be rolled out for the Vegas market until later in 2010, AFAIK]

If you can get in touch with any other employees who have been at one of the sessions, I'm sure they can give more details.

Comps at Bellagio have been absurdly lousy for me since May. Recently I got one of the hosts to admit that earlier this year there was a host meeting where Bellagio/MGM execs basically told them they have to slash comps and timing-wise that matches up with my personal experience of a massive downgrade in comps. Now with this news it's an easy decision to ditch Bellagio and MGM in general. I think they're just hurting too much from City Center and are trying to cut costs anywhere and everywhere they can.

Is this going to be like the typical locals-casino system where slot players get points, and table players get 0 points and have to grovel to pit critters for omps?

From the Beau Rivage FAQ Listing:

How do I earn tier credits?
You earn tier credits based on your slot and table games play. For every slot point, earn two (2) tier credits at Beau Rivage. Earn tier credits for your table games play based on the amount of time you play, how much you bet on average, and the type of game you play.
