Free Gold Status [Email Offer]

Just received an email from Frontier Airlines offering Free Gold Status with Certificate Number to claim by February 28, 2024. "20,000 Elite Qualifying Miles will be awarded to the qualifying Frontier Miles member through a Rewards Certificate." I clicked through and applied the certificate number and my account now shows having Gold Status through Dec. 31, 2025!

Note that the email states, "It's been a while since we've seen you in the sky! To get the most out of your future travel plans, we're gifting you our new Elite Gold Status!"
My last flight with Frontier was June 2020 I believe. I had since moved a couple times and did a majority of my flying on WN and UA and still do (~75 flights/yr). Now I will probably take a quick leisurely trip to try and use the 18k miles on my account as well.

Got the same offer! Flew Frontier several times a few years ago but not in quite a while. Over the last couple weeks I had been searching their website quite a bit for a potential trip next month and was still on the fence about which option I was going to chose (flight or a drive somewhere). This offer was the final decision maker for me. While I really only saved me a couple hundred dollars total it was kind of sign that this is the route I wanted to take. Plus I know the next couple of years will likely be bringing more flights than I normally would take and the Elite Status last two years (because its rest of calendar year plus the next calendar year). I still need to figure out exactly how earnings work and such but will read up on that. Maybe I'm missing something here and the offer is not really a big deal but for someone who never seems to "win" anything I kind of felt this was a nice little surprise.

I decided against the 2023/24 paid status match, since F9 exited my two closest airports. This is a nice consolation prize.

Well so much for the perks of Gold Status. I saw that my flights were actually a bit cheaper today with Frontiers one day promo code. In the past I knew there was no cancels/refunds but I thought wow so great that I have this Elite Gold Status. No way to just get the reduced rate by "changing" flight so I figured fine I'll just cancel and rebook, not so, wants to charge $700+ cancelation fee. Reached out to Frontier via chat an being told nothing they can do, no refunds/cancelations after 24hrs. That seems to directly conflict with the email I got for Gold Status and the info on their website about Gold Status (and all Elite statuses) which states "enjoy no change/cancelation fees 7+ days from departure". Not a huge deal only $140 savings but its just the idea of it I guess, either I misread the terms or they dont even know them. "enjoy no change/cancel fees 7+ days from departure"
