Elite Status activation timing
 

Let's assume someone doesn't have status going into 2023 (or has 20k/50k). If they earn status (or higher tier than currently) early in 2023, does that new status start once they hit the mileage total requirement and is active the rest of the year as well as all of 2024? Or does it only start in 2024? I have a friend wanting to push early in 2023 for 100k status and he was curious if he got it the rest of the year to enjoy the progressive perks (20k first then 50k) or had to wait until 2024. I can't remember how it worked when I got it.

I don’t think that any of us has actually earned 100k organically, especially without an elite bonus mile promotion.

but it should work however 20k and 50k work, and folks have certainly earned those.

I think my 20 or 50k at this time last year would have continued thru this year. The cash offer that many of us took was to increase that status for this year to 100k.

But what if the status is earned in February? 20k from MCO is "only" 5 or so trips to Vegas... certainly doable in short period of time.

Would they get the 20k benefit immediately for the duration of 2023 as well as all of 2024?

I believe they would get it for the rest of the year plus the following year.
