Group Booking with Primary Passenger Not Present
Hi I am a 100k member and I would like to book tickets for my in laws who are in town and want to take a short vacation, however, I am not able to travel with them this time. So I was wondering if I could book three tickets so that they could make use of the baggage and seating perks on my account even if I am not with them on the flight. I was also wondering if there were any negative implications of doing this to my TSA Pre-Check/Global Entry/Clear membership as I dont want to risk my other benefits long term.
One thought I had was I could book two separate one-way tickets and I could argue that I just missed the outbound flight but I am not sure if that would work and not create issues down the road. Thank you for all the advice in advance. |
I would do it if they can get by with just carry on bags. Talking to anyone at a check in desk would be the biggest risk.
Also, have a 'story' already made up, like "he is flying in on another flight and we will meet him airside", and/ or "he was flying in on another airline and his flight was cancelled". And, indeed, maybe two one-way's are better. I would worry that if you don't show up for the outbound, that they might cancel part or all of the return. |

I'm in the exact same situation and wanted to check if you ended up doing that and whether it worked out. Booking an extra (unused) seat for myself is significantly less than the baggage/seating fees when purchased individually.

I am in a same situation where I may not be able to fly with my group booking. Has anyone had experience with either just letting the flight go on without me or can I cancel just my ticket? I am 100K member
nonetheless, any folks happened to previously did this w/o issues? |
you can't cancel the 100k member or expect any refund. if done the agents are instructed to remove works bundle benefit from tbe rest of tbe pax.
Once you no-show on a 1 way you are out the $. I have it on good authority that at accounts get closed.with status and miles forfeit if done outside of a very narrow few reasons. Primary pax has documented covid+, primary pax missed flight and re bought new ticket on next day to.same destination. |
