Extending Frontier Voucher

Title says it all - Have no experience with Frontier but ended up with a $400 voucher that is expiring shortly, and no upcoming travel planned. They are unwilling to extend.

With the mainline carriers it used to be pretty easy to extend travel credits by booking a refundable fare and then canceling - this doesn't seem to be an option with Frontier.

Are there any creative workarounds? My only thought was trying to book a flight as far out as possible and hoping it cancels / changes enough to allow rebooking.

TIA for any advice.

This is about all you can do. With credit you can extend by booking a new flight and cancelling. A new credit shell will get created. But, with vouchers issued by Frontier, they are gone on the date specified, no matter what. The ONLY way that changes is with the idea you proposed above. Try finding some flight that has very little weekly schedule, and book on a Tues/Wed far out. There's at least a probability of that going away if you book very far in the future.

So even if I book a flight far enough out to be in the free change window , If I make any voluntary changes I will l loose the vouchers value?

If you make CHANGES you should be okay to pay fare differences and keep the value. Any attempt to cancel and hope for a new voucher will cause the value to be lost though.

For what its worth I have been in the same boat for a while. Hoping for a schedule change works - otherwise I booked something way in advance with "the works" (i.e. refundability) hoping a new flight credit will be issued if I have to cancel

Similar situation but I might be able to use the voucher before expiration date. So the lost voucher situation is when cancel after Voucher expiration date?

Based on what online agent told me over Fb messenger, if I cancel a reservation booked with voucher (say $50 Voucher + $20 credit), the refund should be available in forms of Voucher, assuming expiration date stay the same.

From Frontier: "whatever form of payment you used with the reservation it will be the same for the refund."
