Move Fast or Miss Out
 
This morning I say that current $15 Sale. I check a trip I had been thinking about and it was available. I got distracted by my job and when I went back after lunch the dates I needed were "Sold Out".

The moral is of story this very quick short sales move fast. They don't appear to be man y seats allocated to them.

Agreed. I slept on a cheapie that had been available for several days. Decided to buy, next morning it was gone and more than doubled. Oh well.

A coworker just booked a CLE-MCO November trip for $19 o/w ("Den" price was $15). Unbelievable.

The Works package was another $49 for the round trip. Nice deal.

Got back tonight from MSP on $38 RT from ATL. Full plane, but they were short-staffed in both places, leading to 90 minutes in total delays. Other passengers were saying it was some sort of walkout/work slowdown. Pilot only mentioned being very shorthanded as a contributor to getting out of MSP late, and then in ATL there was a 20-minute further delay because of occupied gates. The pilot even turned off the seat belt sign for 10 or so of those minutes to let people go to the bathroom while sitting on the ramp.

Don't forget u can book on Orbitz, though u don't get DD or promo codes. OTOH, when they did a limited date $30 ATL-DEN RT it made the difference between getting and not getting for me, as their own site was getting hammered and was unresponsive.

I hadn't even contacted them, so it's a nice gesture I'm suuming they did for everyone on delayed flights.

Just make sure you check the terms, I believe it has to be used (travel booked) in the next 3 months.

That's actually very impressive. I'm surprised that they were proactive in offering it rather than just responding to complaints.

Looks like there's a pattern to how these sales unfold. If demand is on Frontier's side then they can fill in gaps like Tue/Wed./Sat. at good-but-not-great levels as an opening bid. Prime times like Sundays and days around certain holidays can still be sky's-the-limit.

Hardest-to-sell days include traditional low periods like late September and the week or two around Halloween. With those it seems you get successive waves of more-generous sales (sometimes offered via DD before offered to everyone) with the grail being the $15 OW anyone can buy (or $15 DD/$19 general public lately). But those don't pop 'til late and come with typically very short-term travel periods (e.g. next 10 days).

So do you take the $49 deal earlier or hold out for the $15? It probably depends on how motivated you are to take the trip and how much flexibility you have...if you have a lot of flexibility you can wait it out.

I did on the Halloween weekend and got ATL-PHL-ATL at $30 RT (not as big a prize as DEN or LAS in Sept., but the schedule worked out with an early outbound and late return).

Generally it pays to be aware of when the very lowest travel periods are and to leave open the time and be ready to pounce.
