Why no TSA Pre-Check for Frontier?
Every other US airline seems to work with TSA but Frontier.
Anyone know why? Even if you have the Pre-Check feature enabled and have a Known Traveler Number, Frontier doesn't want to spit it out on their boarding passes. It's becoming an big irritant to see other airline travelers use the Pre-Check Lane at security. Even though I've paid my $85 and have Pre-Check for any other US airline that I fly, it's not active with F9. Grrrr.... this is making me rethink getting Summit status again when I only need a couple more trips to do it for all of 2015. Pre-Check is awesome if you haven't tried it. Someone give me some hope that Frontier is introducing it soon??? |

Why a FF would fly F9 is another question (and I say this as a FF who enters the US >12x/ year according to my GE records.)

Please write to F9, request TSA Pre, I did. They need to hear from us in numbers.

Thank you for contacting Frontier Airlines. We’re currently evaluating the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Pre-Check program. Many customers have expressed interest in the program, and we are considering incorporating it into our systems. However, at this time I am unable to say when this may take place. Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate you taking the time to write us. Sincerely, XXXXXXXXX Customer Service Frontier Airlines |
They're not marketing to a time is money demographic.

There is a place for my secure flight number in my profile, I do not believe that used to be there. I could be mistaken but I think that's a good sign.

Come on Frontier! |
No doubt Pre-Check is a great feature, it's understandable for some of the larger outstations (ex. LAX, SFO, LGA) but for those origionating travel in Denver security over the walkway to the A Concourse never seems to take more than 5-10 mins anyways. Combined with the lack of frequent flyers this may be why it has taken them so long to consider Pre-Check.

Sun Country just got added to Pre-Check. Do they ever get business travelers?

I think PRE-Check (as least the paid members) are business or frequent travelers. Frontier clientele is more leisure or 1-2 trips a year which would not result in benefit of the program. If Frontier had more business travelers or routes I think it would be more effective.

It works for me. They go where I need to be, from a home base of Denver to the southwest, west and pacific northwest. Summit benefits have eroded somewhat, but still strong... 25K miles gets you top-tier status with elite check-in/security, first to board, free stretch seating, two free check-in bags, a free carryon bag, free booze and sodas, no itinerary change fee, no hassle cancelling a trip before the flight and reusing the fare value later, 20K miles for a standard award - includes Alaska. New ownership makes things more secure, although there may be more changes ahead. But what airline is increasing FF benefits? All I need now is Pre-Check! F9 haters abound, but when you look at the local alternatives of United (yeccchhh) and Southwest (sardine seating and hch fares), Frontier usually comes out ahead when you concentrate travel on them.
Also, I spoke to the CBP agents in Denver who did my Global Entry and they stated that Frontier would be online in Sept or October. |
This week I've noticed that in A security at DEN, they have privileged the Pre-Check line over the regular check-in lines so much that there was a huge backup there. Only two regular x-ray/scanner lines open. It got so congested that the agents repeatedly had to just stop checking IDs for a while because there was nowhere for anyone else to stand past their kiosks (why they didn't open up more regular lines I couldn't say--there were plenty of agents who appeared to be just standing around). This is a recent development--just last week it wasn't like this. I'm not sure what TSA on A is up to, but this is going to make the lack of Pre-Check on F9 all the more annoying, if things keep up like this.
