Advise: Standby or Purchase
Hi,
I am currently booked on a F9 flight from DEN to MCI on 8/30 that leaves DEN @7pm and lands around 10pm. I am trying to figure out the best way to move up to an earlier flight that leaves @3:30 and gets in at 6pm. I am Ascent. So my question: Do I have any chance of doing this on standby? It's the start of the holiday weekend, so I'm guessing my chances are slim, but I've never actually done standby with Frontier. My other option is to burn some citi thank you points and book a "cheap" UA ticket around the same time or book a WN flight for around the same price. Both around $180 right now. Any ideas would be great! Thanks in advance. |
You do have the ability to go standby for free as an Ascent - the gate agent may refer you to the Customer Service Center to do it, however. Definitely try to get to the earlier flight early enough to get your name on the list. You'll be ahead of everyone except Summits on the list.
I'm also an Ascent; I'm one for one on standby and even got a Stretch aisle seat. You also might be able to upgrade the ticket to Classic Plus for less than $180, and as a Classic Plus ticket, you should be able to change your flight at no additional charge. |
