Redeeming Miles
 

I was just checking the frontier program to check certain routes I am interested in this year.
I see they advertise 20k domestic RT flights but almost everything I check is showing 20k per leg. Is this normal with Frontiers program to only get the good offer 1 or 2 days a month? I am flying out of Denver.

That's been my recent experience DCA-SLC. I finally was able to book 2 separate 1 ways for up coming trips. I had to pay the outbound as I couldn't under 20k for the outbound but found 10k for the return. Honestly, I'd given up on being able to use my miles for under 20k each way so I was happily surprised.

I have been redeeming lots of trips at the low level without much difficulty. One thing I have noticed that when I enter my travel dates, the tabs for the days surrounding my date only show high availability. But if you click on the tabs, low availability will often appear on specific flights for the date. Have you tried that?

Also, most of my redemptions out of DEN are to destinations with multiple flights per day. I have had trouble with low level awards to PSP, a sub-daily route. I have also been looking for March, which also may account for the lack of low level awards.

I usually check the one-way route as well as the round trip because, unless they've changed their system in the past couple of years it's generally more likely to get the one-way route on FF and then just book the other one one-way and pay for it as normal (usually booking 2 tickets at once).


For example: We fly SEA-OMA a couple of times a year, and I noticed that the availability for Seattle to Omaha on Frequent Flier at the lowest tier is a lot more likely than the Omaha to Seattle. (A lot more people trying to get into Seattle than out of it? ;p) I'm glad the system is flexible enough to make it easier to make arrangements one-way for half the miles, it makes the miles much more useful in those scenarios. (I don't tend to have a really high balance, probably hover around 42k miles at the most)

What happens when you check for a round-trip FF and it has the low tier availability for one-way only and the higher tier for the way back? Will it let you mix the two or will it hide availability of the one-way for the low tier (like it used to do prior to the FlyFrontier redesign)?

It will give you the blended rate.

thanks for the info. I will have to try again and click on the tabs as suggested to see if the low level comes up.
I know denver is a busy hub for Frontier so maybe this is part of my problem
