DEN FlyBucks promo

Hey Denver fans! Here’s a reason to get up early on Saturday. Stop by the Bed Bath & Beyond in Cherry Creek between 11am and Noon (corner of 1st and University) and find our mobile billboard parked in the lot. Mention this post to the driver and receive $50 towards your next Frontier flight (while supplies last). If you can’t make it Saturday, you should still be on the lookout for that beautiful billboard cruising all around town. Be sure and wave!

I saw that FB post today. I wonder how many folks will show up at Cherry Creek. I'd like the $50, but not interested in driving 30 miles to fight the crowds. Think I'll wait to see where they go next around Denver.

I saw about 20 people waiting for the giveaway. The parking lot was packed due to a farmer's market. A security guard said that the truck would be setting up at a nearby Target instead. As I was about to leave for Target, the F9 billboard truck went by so I just followed it to the new location. I heard that others didn't learn of the new location and weren't too happy. Mixed results for F9 I'm afraid.

This has happened before for similar on-site promotions. They do not always show up at the announced destination, but instead head somewhere else in the vicinity.

Good thing F9 flights are not opoerated by the promo team. :)

I posted a question on their FB page last night wondering why the reason for the change when they directed everyone to BBB. The post was promptly removed this morning with nary a reply from F9.

Why not tweet a reply to @flyfrontier, where the promo was also posted? You might just get an answer, as I believe they are usually fairly responsive to "issues."

Hello Stumblefoot, looked into this problem for you. It seems that Facebook automatically marked your post as spam and filtered it out. There were also a couple other people this happened to at the same time. Your post has since been removed from the spam section so you should now see it on the wall.

Thanks Mostly Air, but I'm still not seeing it on the wall. It's weird, because I received notice of a post in a reply to my original message from Frontier tonight. No big deal. The message I received asked me to contact Frontier via their Facebook email address.

I will let everyone know what transpires.

Thanks again!

Make sure you order the results by "Everyone (Most Recent)", you can see this option on top, below the pictures to the right. It'll make it easier to find your message then, I'm able to find it.

That did it MostlyAir. Thanks for the help.

Frontier really stepped up to the plate on the Denver/Cherry Creek fiasco this weekend. They have sent me a gift card to use on a future flight. This is just a great example of how a marketing team can repair a damaged relationship and right a wrong PR bungle at the same time. Nice job Frontier!

Lucky you, maybe we should all move to DEN.

You know I would have made sure the same thing was done if he was in MKE. Remember the Midwest Airlines seat sale and the brand announcement? :D

I guess they say that practice makes perfect. :)

Mobile Billboard Giveaway Take 2! Okay, so our first attempt a few weeks ago didn’t go according to plan, but we’re going to try again! Look for our mobile billboard near MetroLux 14 Theatre at the Promenade Shops at Centerra in Loveland this Sunday (11/6) from 11:30 a.m. – Noon. We have $50 Fly Bucks cards to give out to the first 75 people who mention this post to the driver on Sunday (one card per person). We look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
There sure are a lot of giveaways in the DEN area; how about having some in the other Frontier hubs?

Is MKE still considered a hub? In reality, it looks more like a focus city.

I was thinking about qualifying the term, but I guess you guys took care of that.

Apparently, Frontier still believes it has multiple hubs, at least according to the info on their website.

Currently in its 18th year of operations, Frontier employs more than 5,500 aviation professionals and operates more than 500 daily flights from its hubs at Denver International Airport, Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport and Kansas City International Airport.

I wish there was a "tongue in cheek" smilie so that you would know I was just teasing you. No harm / no foul... I think the vast majority of us on this forum knew exactly what you were referring to.

Hopefully, they'll bring their billboard promotion to Milwaukee soon!

ge

I should have placed a ;) in my post, as that was the intent.

Thanks for the message.

Another giveaway scheduled, per FB:

11+11+11=$111 off your next Frontier trip! It’s a “1-derful” way to mark 11/11/11. Find our mobile billboard at these coordinates: 39.827111,-105.111111. Frontier will be there at 11:11AM tomorrow, 11/11/11, giving out $111 Fly Bucks cards to the first 11 people who show up, or until 11:41AM (whichever comes first). Do the math and come find us tomorrow morning at 11:11AM!
One guess as to what area it's in.

That's an interesting location. Google street view shows an empty lot, while satellite shows some sort of building. There's an RTD stop there, so I wonder how busy it'll be for only 11 cards?

The location was Arvada Estates Retirement Community. No one seemed to know why it was held there, including the manager of the retirement home. I'd say about 30-40 people showed up. More orderly than the Cherry Creek event, but a bit odd in that there was no good place for the billboard truck to park, again. It ended up behind the building, not visible to street traffic. But I was one of the lucky eleven. Not sure if F9 treated the other folks to anything.

Like it or not, Twitter is here to stay, and it's already being used by customers to get direct responses from companies. Just look at Kevin Smith and Southwest.

I had a very similar situation with American a month or two back and not only got an upgrade to business class, but a $250 voucher toward a future flight.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and social media outlets give us the squeak we need to really be heard in new and revolutionizing ways. Bad PR is one thing, but companies can ill afford bad-mouthing on social media outlets from a more educated and active public.

Those who complain about government but then don't vote are the ones I put on a special $%^& list. Likewise, those who complain about companies but never contact them with an expectation of correcting wrongs or fixing things are also getting on my list.

I've had everything from free upgrades in flights, to vouchers for future travel, to full refunds for bad food/service, and much more. Hell, I bought a Verizon Droid two years ago, and am still on unlimited voice and data while using a Droid X. The touchscreen is going on this one as well, so will likely chime in soon again seeing if I can make the move the the iPhone4 (not the S).

It's a matter of leveraging these outlets best, and pretending they are the devil is just plain silly.

mke9499 Nov 12, 2011 5:45 pm

The Frontier promotions dept must think everyone knows that it's a forgone conclusion that all on-site giveaways are held in the Denver area; now they are not even listing a city (or state, for that matter) in their FB posts.

Sunday! Be there! Find our mobile billboard on Sunday, 11/13 from 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. next to the Saj Mediterranean Grill at the Streets at SouthGlenn. Be one of the first 50 people to show up and mention this post to the Frontier representative to get a $50 Fly Bucks card!

I understand that. My point was that "I" don't Tweet. I wasn't saying whether I liked it or not, or whether Twitter is here to stay. There are plenty of other communication channels available to me, including other social media outlets.
