I've been thinking about this for a while.. a way to get in to northern South America and the Caribbean from a southern airport that doesn't have direct service to many of these destinations, with some feed from current F9 hubs/focus cities and some other northern and Midwestern cities.

Call me crazy or a dreamer.. .... Cough up a codeshare on Air Berlin to DUS..

Ok I will. :p Seriously, you can forget about an AB/F9 codeshare with AB joining Oneworld in 2012. Also, to start a florida hub in this economy with AA, B6, and NK as your competition? Sounds like a good way to lose money. Any hub F9 starts in florida will have to survive on FL traffic only.

You are absolutely right about Florida. But I do think if they want to be a leisure airline only, they'll need some sort of southern focus city to move people to Latin and South America. There aren't a whole lot of options for that, but some have brought up MSY or SAT in the past.

Whatever happened to Bedford's rumored partnership with AA?

I thnk Blue can comment on his remark as he personally spoke with Bedford at the naming announcement in 2010.

I was there as well. While F9 had a strong interest in that, and it looked like things were heading toward AA or a possible OneWorld tie-in, it has yet to materialize.

Perhaps they have bigger fish to fry right now.
