Using someone else's bump voucher question

Hi,
I'm an F9 newbie & did do a search but couldn't find an answer.

Someone is giving me a bump voucher and they mailed it to me. I called F9 and they said that the ONLY way the voucher can be used is that the person who's name is on it must take it to an F9 ticket counter & sign it over & finalize the transaction. It CANNOT be mailed in. I can call & make the rez. for myself & they will hold it for 7 days but he has to take the voucher to the airport & sign it over.

Do you think I would be successful if I took it to my airport (even though my name is not on the voucher) and made the rez. there?

Does this sound correct? I was going to call another CSR but the hold times are 20 minutes. :)

TIA

If it's a paper voucher the person whose name is on the voucher must bring it to a ticket counter and present ID if the ticket is going to be in someone else's name.

You'd better verify that it's not an electronic certificate. Those can be done over the phone but only the name on the certificate can travel.

Thanks for the reply! It is a paper voucher. I now have it. It expires 8/10/11. The problem is the person it was issued to lives in a city that is no longer served by F9. :( And he lives about 1500 miles from me! So, will F9 make an exception by letting someone else use it or will it have to go in the garbage?

Maybe a notarized letter from the person on the voucher?

He did send a note with the voucher but it's not notarized. I'll take it to the airport and try to book a flt. The F9 counter in manned by AS employees so maybe I'll have a chance. :)
