...and it will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Republic Airways. Of course this is depending bankruptcy court approval. Just broke. Gotta believe they couldn't find any other "outside" investors.

That's just weird... I can't believe Menke could not find anyone else. In this article, it says "preserving the jobs of most Frontier employees." I imagine it will be mostly upper management that is in trouble, but who knows...?

Does this mean Republic is able to put some E-jets back in service for F9? There are several cities where such service could be well utilized.

The announcement sounds like a selloff shrouded in a "merger." Evidently F9 won't truly be a Colorado company anymore.

Thus ends the second incarnation of Frontier Airlines. I wonder how long the third incarnation will last.

Well actually I've read much of the reorganization plan filed with the court...it appears Frontier will maintain it's own Board of Directors and continue to be based in Denver. There is also other language in there to try and set a precedent that Frontier and Republic Holdings will be two separate legal entities. This may be a way to get around the Republic pilots contract.

Also of note...Frontier is close to leasing 3 additional A320's in early 2010. Lynx is now getting a 12th Q400 in early 2010. And the long-term plan calls for Lynx to operate (5) Q400's for another airline - in addition to flying for Frontier.

Having Republic own Frontier is not a good thing. The Frontier pilots are instantly overpaid and overpriced. You guys and gals will all be outsourced. Kids recently out of flight school will be flying your airplanes. If you do not believe this look at what is happening at Midwest. Good luck, you will need it.

Overpriced compared to Republic, but F9 is making money and I don't think Wexford wants to mess that up. Dumping and retraining a couple fleets of pilots would burn more cash than they have tied up in Frontier right now.

But what do I know...

This could be a lot worse. It could be Mesa and JO, not Republic. . . .

Good lord...Republic is now buying Midwest too. Midwest will continue under it's own brand out of MKE. Sounds like Republic is setting up a similar structure with major and national airlines.
