F9 First Baggage Fee Cliarification
 

Quick question on F9's first baggage fee...

This is from their website:

Changes effective for tickets purchased on or after September 13, 2008 for travel on or after November 1, 2008.
* First checked bag - changing from $0 to $15.00

I purchased my ticket in end of June for travel next week, does this mean I won't get charged the first baggage fee? I interpreted it as if I bought it before Sept 13 - no fee regardless of date of travel, after Sept 13 but travel before Nov 1 - no fee, and after Sept 13 and travel after Nov 1, $15 fee.

I just called F9 to double check, they said their would be a fee as long as travel is after Nov 1, regardless of ticket purchased date?

You shouldn't get charged. However, be sure to print that out from the website, also have a copy of your receipt that shows the purchase date of your ticket. You should be fine, but I don't trust airlines to get these kind of things right.

I've been trying to stick with UAL and one of their agents tried to charge me for a second bag even though I am premier. A supervisor cleared it up.

Your understanding is correct. However, based on a late June purchase date, you would have to pay for the second bag and increased fees for any oversize or overweight bags.

The November 1st date was when the first bag fee was announced, effective November 13th.
