Frontier Airlines

Don't fly Frontier Airlines from San Antonio, Texas!

In Febuary I was flying Frontier from San Antonio to Denver and arrived at the ticket counter at 5:40AM for a 6:20AM Flight. No customers were at the counter and the [person] at the counter would not accept my luggage because I missed the cut off by 5 minutes. The TSA guy was standing by the X-Ray and was not busy. I pleaded with [the agent] and [was told] rules were rules and would not let me on. I went to the United counter for a flight 2 hours later and watched [the agent] while I waited putting on luggage on the belt and I yelled over, "Whose lugguage is that?" [The agent] said it was for the people who were on time. This was 5-10 minutes after I left the counter!! Frontier ended up giving me a voucher for the value of the ticket.

Last week I flew them again and this time I went 2 days early to exchange my voucher just to be safe. I am so glad that I did..it took 45 minutes to exchange my voucher because "[name of agent removed per FT TOS]" did not know what s/he was doing and s/he ended up voiding it and then reinstating it and then demanded more money for the ticket. I called Frontier and they sent me a $75 voucher...not good.

Flying out of Denver was a breeze but flying out of SA is a disaster...

Inail, welcome to FlyerTalk. As your experience concerns Frontier, let me move this to our Frontier forum for further discussion. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz

F9 response

While "[the agent]" needs to take a chill pill, I am glad that F9 was so willing to accommodate you and you were willing to accept a free flight. I've never received bad service from F9 but UA is bad much of the time. It sounds like s/he doesn't want to work there and would be much happier working somewhere else. God help us if s/he goes to work for TSA but she'd probably fit in as US Air.

in fairness, rules ARE rules. granted we all run a bit late sometimes, but when airlines relax rules, customers take advantage of it. frontier has been generous to remedy any situation i've raised my voice over so kudos to them for listening.
also, i've noticed a HUGE difference in DEN employees vs those at out stations.

I believe this passenger forgot to mention the fact that he verbally abused these agents at the ticket counter by calling them "F;in .....es" and other offensive words. He caused such a scene that everyone around was staring. He did not plead, he demanded in a demeaning and threatning manner. EVERY airline has a cut off. Its not the agents fault you were late. 2 hours is the rule at every airport. Obviously you didnt hesitate in taking a free flight or two from Frontier, even though you should have been detained by the airport police because of your behavior. Please DONT fly Frontier, Im sure they will do fine without your business. And yes, being verbally abusive to ticket counter agents CAN put u in jail. They should have paged the police after the first 10 F-Bombs you dropped...

If Frontier had accepted your bag and checked you in, you would now be complaining about the security people who wouldn't let you cut to the front of the line at security because your flight was boarding?

I'm a paranoid traveler when it comes to time, I have been from my house, through security, and at the gate at DTW in 1/2 hour; but I normally try to get there to the airport at least an hour and a half early before my flight, time enough to check e-mail and have a drink at the WC.

People who show up late and expect the airline/airport staff and their fellow passengers to go out of their way to make their flight are one of the biggest annoyances of travel.

AMEN!!! The other 1oo+ people on any given flight managed to arrive on time. ... People need to understand since 9/11 security IS tighter and people need to be prepared when traveling. Know the carry on and liqiud restrictions! Kudos to you!!
