One way awards?

Is that possible? I called last night and was disappointed there were enough award seats on the flight there, but none on the flight back...

Can i use 7500 miles to book the one way? Or would this not be advantageous?

Only roundtrip awards are available. Perhaps you can book your ideal outbound and an alternative return with availability? Maybe then if your ideal return suddenly has availability, you can switch to that flight. It should only cost you $35 to do so.

Unfortunately, thee is no "alternative." I am flying OAK-LGA and there are NO flights available on the day of and the days surrounding 6/29, when I would need to return. (I have to be in NY on 6/28).

Any suggestions would be appreciated. It seems the flight isn't even really booked, except for the award seats, which really is frustrating. :(

I understand. If the flight doesn't book up with revenue passengers (unlikely since most F9 flights in/out of LGA are very full), you might be able to find an award seat open up.

But on second thought, if the flight isn't too full, maybe you can buy a cheap ticket? Then you can save the miles for another possible trip when fares are much higher.

Is $325 or so a good price for a seat OAK-JFK? The main problem is, I had hope with 3 months advanced planning, I could get some award seating, as we have 4 passengers and I don't think our budget allows for 4 X $325. :(

Argh. This was all set as a gift for my parent'ts 30th anniversary gift, and now it's all going to heck. I thought I was being really forward thinking too! I guess other's are even more forward. ;)

If it were me, I would hold off for the time being. For how long you decide, just to see if price decreases or availability opens. NYC always has good deals because of the immense competition, so I would tend to doubt you'd be stuck in a position where fares increase across all carriers and no award availability exists. If you can't find four award seats, maybe you can find two award seats and buy the other two? Or 3 and 1? or 1 and 3? etc. This way you can still save and use miles. Just a thought. I'd keep looking for a little while longer to see what happens, especially if you can get the seats you desire on the outbound and just have to deal with the return.
