Lynx operating DEN-SDF ??

I understand Lynx is being dismantled - not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Was looking at flights DEN-SDF to see the timings and equipment being used now that Frontier and United Express are operating the route.

I noticed several de Havilland Dash 8-400 flights from DEN-SDF operated by Frontier Airlines d/b/a Lynx Aviation over the past several days.

At first I thought that was strange, and then thought perhaps they were extra segments for Kentucky Derby Traffic. I then looked at the reverse, SDF-DEN and noticed these Lynx flights were one-way.

I now presume these were flights leaving the Lynx fleet (?), but why SDF?

I did a quick search and the aircraft have not departed SDF, at least under the SSX callsign.

FWIW, I do know Republic has a Maintenance Base here - I don't know if that has a role to play.

Anyone know who is buying the Dash-8's?

The only carrier based here at SDF is 5X (UPS), but their fleet is all mainline. UPS does have "feeder" carriers which operate smaller aircraft to serve smaller markets, but I don't believe any are based here.

The primary one operating here at SDF is 2Q (SNC) aka "Air Cargo Carriers" and they operate a fleet of Shorts 330/360's, but are based in MKE.

Anyways, just curious -- I'm glad that Frontier has entered the market here from Denver using the Airbus A319/A320. I just wish they would add a morning flight, which would make them more attractive - currently they only operate once daily to DEN in the late afternoon at about the same time UAx operates their once daily flight (eqp varies from CRJ200 to CRJ700 to E170) -- plus there's 2x's daily E135 service to MKE operated by CHQ.

TThey are being returned to the lessor after the pre-return checks are done.

The return checks are being done in SDF and the latest I've heard is that the Q's are going to AC Jazz.

I had to pick up an auto rental at SDF the other day and all of the Lynx Dash-8's were parked right behind the rental lot.

Looks like Air Canada may have some competition for the Lynx planes; click here

The leased aircraft are going to AC, however, there are aircraft that are still owned by Lynx, which would be part of that transaction.
