Getting Stretch Seats for Summits

I just made reservations to and from ATL, and I did not get the option to select the first four rows that I assume are the stretch seats. I thought that Ascents and Summits could select these seats?

It's supposed to be only when you check in online or at the airport, and only when the flight has them available. However, I was in SAN last week and when I checked in, it showed the stretch seating as full so I couldn't select it even though it turned out that there were plenty of seats. The GA was really thoughtful in SAN. She noticed I was summit when I boarded and immediately upgraded me to stretch. So when you get to the airport, see the GA and ask if there's room in stretch.

Summit's can NOT prereserve Stretch seats. It is only available for Classic Plus passengers to prereserve. However, upon check-in, Summit's are offered Stretch seating at no additional charge. At this time, as the A319 fleet is being reconfigured (should be completed by the end of January 2010), you may see that rows 1-4 are blocked out, even for Summit's. This will change as the entire fleet is Stretch configured. F9 hasn't been officially selling Stretch seating on the A319s yet even though the majority of the fleet is completed. I'm certain improvements will come by February 2010 once the product will be available on every aircraft.

Thanks but no thanks

As long as 11A or 11F are available who needs Stretch!!! Actually it'll be nice, we will get drink and snack service faster and getting our TV screens swiped sooner.

Perhaps they could setup the system so the Ascent/Summit card would allow one TV activation per flight....
