What:

Vintage poster shop

Where:

53, rue de Seine

Why:

Mireille Romand and her assistants (both named Dominique) are a delight. Every poster in the shop, from €25 to €10,000 has a story and they are more than willing to tell you that charming story. And reasonable prices. I never go to Paris without stopping in to say hi and the walls of my home are decorated with things from her shop.

I love La Grande Epicerie.

Best wineshop in Paris IMO is Les Caves Augé, 116 bd Haussmann in the 8th.

Nothing posted here for 2 1/2 years. Thought I might try to revive this thread. I'm leaving for Paris in a few weeks and would love some current FF bits of wisdom.
Thanks

What:

Ferdi, Restaurant / Bar

Where:

Rue Mont Thabor, Vendôme

Why:

Friendly, relaxed place with great food and drinks. An oasis in this snobby-chic neighbourhood.

Marché des Enfants Rouges

Entrances on rue de Bretagne, between rue de Beauce and rue Charlot in the 3rd. Oldest covered market in Paris. Full of all sorts of prepared ethnic foods to enjoy on site or take away. In back row find stall operated by Alain, who makes an incredible wrap in a whole wheat crepe stuffed with organic vegetables and herbs, goat cheese and a drizzle of honey that satisfies even a carnivore. Stalls also sell some fresh produce but the draw is the prepared food.

Tues, Wed, Thurs : 8h30 - 13h & 16h -19h30
Friday, Saturday: 8h30 -13h & 16h - 20h
Sunday:: 8h30 - 14h
Closed Mondays

The view from the top of the Arc de Triomphe especially at night on the hour when The Eiffel Tower lights up...could stay up there all night ! A great, great view...

I've never been up there at night. The lights on the tower itself don't impede the view?

I'm enjoying reading this thread and am glad to see new postings. Hubby and I want to visit Paris in 2014 and I'm already appreciating these entries.

Whiling away the time on a bench under the Chestnut trees at Jardin des Plantes eating the goodies I've just purchased after wandering down quaint rue Mouffetard.

Sitting at a cafe at Place Dauphine and watching a game of pétanque.

Ditto whiling away the time, but my favorite place for that is the Place des Vosges. Just no place like it in the world!

If you haven't seen it, the Pere Lachaise cemetery is a great place to spend several hours. The thought may seem off putting, but forget that. It's great. Very serene. Lots of celebs there. Get a good map before you go in.

If we're talking views, the view from the Tour Montparnasse is great, not least because it's one of the few places in the area where you can't see the Tour Montparnasse...

Why I love Paris

Croissants in the Metro

Sitting in a coffee terrace and observing people walk in a hurry
(only applies if you are on vacation-vacation)

Montparnasse has something on me

Walking the little streets, just keep walking dont look at a map, keep walking and eventually stop for le dejeuner. You will encounter beautiful street and architectural views
