Finistere

I will spending some time in Finistere - Quimper and the southern shore. Any suggestions for what to do? Aside from the natural attractions, I saw that Brest Airport has a special sightseeing tour ....

If the weather is good and the sea smooth enough, I would suggest a boat day trip to Ouessant (Wissant), an offshore island, and hire a bike to see around it.

Come to mind :
- take a boat on the Odet river
- Benodet + Sainte Marine
- Presqu'ile de Crozon
- fish salesroom (criée) in the early morning in Concarneau or any other place

I second the Ouessant suggestion, or Sein, eventhough seasick is guaranteed if the sea is not calm.

Thank you very much. We will definately do this...

On restaurants, we've made reservations at Tri-Men in Sainte Marine and at Doris in Kerity. Any thoughts? Other restaurants you would recommend - we're looking for something a bit upscale...

"La Roseraie de Bel Air" in Pluguffan is a 1 Michelin star restaurant.

I did not try though.

What an amazingly beautiful part of the world! Yes, I would also suggest the boat ride from Le Conquet to Ouessant. Another good boat ride is from Quiberon to Belle-Ile. You can also visit Pointe du Raz, which isn't too far a drive from Quimper.

I also enjoyed just driving around the local roads as close to the coastline as possible. Beautiful. Just beautiful.

There is only one boating company to Ouessant : http://www.pennarbed.com/

Otherwise there is an airline : http://www.finistair.fr/
