Shuttle CDG to Paris 6me arr

Will be arriving in CDG Friday 11 am.
I really don't want to spend 80 euros ($120) for a taxi.
There are several shuttle services from CDG to hotel.
Any comments? Has anybody ever tried them? I usually just take the AF bus or RER. Any specific recommendations?
thank you

If you're already comfortable with the AF bus you should just take that. It's up and running.

Thank you. I see that whole strike situation may be return to some normalcy by the time I arrive on Friday. I think I will stick with the AF bus.

is there a cdg af bus that gets close to 6th? I thought it landed at the arche d t.

the rer, if running, stops on the border of the 6th, or at least did, the last time I stayed in 5 or6.

The RER B is predicted to be nearly normal tomorrow (Friday), for what that's worth.

You want to go where? Nov 25, 2007 9:48 am

There is a AF bus which runs to Montparnasse.

Can someone please tell me what the AF bus is? Is there a link. I am looking at getting from CDG to the 14th district on boxing day. Will the AF bus do? or better to take the RER....price is a factor.

Thanks

Try here for the Air France Coach website (click on 'lines' at the bottom for full details).

My experience is that the bus does take quite a while, but there's shouldn't be too much traffic on the 26th.

Depending on where in the 14e you're going, bear in mind that RER B also serves Denfert-Rochereau and Cité Universitaire.

I returned from Paris.
By the time I got there, the bulk of the strike was over and things were running very smoothly.
I opted for the AF bus to Montparnasse and then walked 15 blocks to my hotel.
on the way back, I took the Metro to Gare du Nord and then the RER B-CDG which took me right into the train station at CDG.
the bus was 14 euros; the subway and train was 9.70 euros.
The only problem with the train is that if you leave very early, you have to buy the tickets in the auto machine which did not take my credit card and I did not have so many coins. Took some time and begging to get the shops to change my bills. Not sure why the auto machine does not take bills. I does accept bank cards also.

Next time, I am taking the Metro to the Opera station (Garnier not Bastille) and then Roissybus to CDG. I still think that is the best combo.

Actually, if you'd bought a zone 1-5 ticket where you first entered the metro, it would have been only € 8.20. No need to use a separate metro ticket as a single zone 1-5 would have allowed the transfer between lines.

Thanks for posting to let us know how it went.

I gave up on the Roissybus a couple of years ago. It's just a long city bus with a few extra racks for luggage. Unfortunately, few passengers use the racks so luggage is often blocking the aisles. One time the first person on the bus took the front seat behing the driver, and left her 2 large bags in the aisle for eveyone to climb over.

I suggest folks take the Metro the either the Arc, then use the AF buses. All luggage stored underneath by attendants at both ends of the trip. Better seats on the bus too.

Impeccable timing for this thread, as hubby and I are leaving from LON on the 26th.

Last time we used the Eurostar, and never went to CDG; but we used the Metro/Tube in Paris.

It looks like we could easily take the tube from CDG to the Louvre area, without too much difficulty. Am I right? Or, are there issues that I am not seeing? Will we need Euros to buy the metro ticket at CDG? Or, will a credit/debit card suffice?

Thanks in advance for any and all info!

The "Tube" is the common name for the subway in London. In Paris the subway is called the "Metro".

The Metro does not go to CDG. There are five primary ways to get into Paris from CDG: Cab, Air France Bus (for anyone, not just AF passngers), RER train, Roissybus and private shuttle van.

You could take any of these to the Louvre area-I would take the AF bus to the Arc de Triomph, then the #1 Metro line to the Louvre.

thank you for the information. I did not know that. I just bought a separate Metro to Gare du Nord and then an RER ticket to CDG.

Staying at the Meridien Montparnasse, and I have a 10:20am flight to Dublin. US citizien, so I'll have to clear outbound immigration. Should I take the AF bus, and if so, how much time do I need to allow?
