TGV to Champagne
TGV to Reims: anybody tried it yet? Is the station a new one in the country, as in, say Avignon, or the old station in the city?
REIMS, France - After a Paris breakfast of cafe and croissant, how about lunch and a glass of bubbly in France's Champagne region? Thanks to a new high-speed train line, Reims, the ancient heart of Champagne country, is now just 45 minutes from Paris — less time than it takes to cross the French capital during rush hour. Running at up to 199 mph, France's network of bullet trains — known as the TGV, or Train a Grande Vitesse (high-speed train) — is shrinking the country. Its newest line, the TGV Est, puts eastern France on the daytrippers' map, slashing travel times to the line's 30-plus destinations in eastern France and Germany. full story at: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap_travel/20...fkulzisNGUU80F |

The Reims station is within walking distance of the cathedral. In an afternoon, we toured two champagne caves and the cathedral before returning to Paris for the night. |

The trains go to either the old in-town Reims station or the newer suburban station Champagne-Ardenne that the Strasbourg trains use. Just check the schedule: "Reims" is the older in-town station.

SO the TGV does go to the older station in Reims? I thought it only arrives at Champagne-Ardenne. How does one get from Champagne-Ardenne station to the center of Reims in a reasonably inexpensive and relatively easy manner?
all other TGV for example those leaving Aeropoert CDG and french regions will stop at Champagne Ardenne. some TGV do not stop at Champagne Ardenne, so make sure yours does. from Champagne Ardenne, you'll have rail connecting service (takes 7minutes, cost 2.20€) or a taxi (takes 15min and cost is ~15€) |
We have reservations at chateau les Crayeres . What train from Paris should we take. Later)the next day) we are leaving there to Avignon..what train then? Thanks in advance
