Le Meurice For Dinner

I'm relatively new to the forums and I wanted to inquire whether any of you have eaten at Le Meurice since it has been awarded it's 3rd Michelin star this year? We have reservations there for our 10th wedding anniversary and would love to hear positive/negative experiences. I have a hospitality background and have done much research before I made the selection of the restaurant. We are looking for the whole experience: food, decor and service. We got engaged at Lasserre 10 years ago but wanted to try somewhere different this time. We are staying at Hotel Crillon so we will be able to experience Les Ambassadeurs for breakfast.

:)

Thanks.

I haven't eaten there, but as someone who is has a bit of knowledge of Michelin, how could there possibly be any negative experiences at a 3 star?

As you probably know, your experience depends as much as your attitude and ability to enjoy such a special experience as it does on the restaurants perfect food, service and ambiance.

I have had two. both times in Paris, and on both occasions a group(5-10) of very wealthy, or very big spenders were present. both groups were very demanding, and the staff complied, at our expense. very plainly remember sitting for 30 minutes after initial contact before anyone returned to inquire about first beverage order.

Would you share with us the names of the restaurants in Paris where the service was less than satisfactory?

Was Le Meurice one of those restaurants and how recently were these experiences?

I had lunch there shortly BEFORE it was elevated to three star heaven. I thought the food was excellent. It's a beautiful room, very grand. While service was measured, it was not inattentive. But of the Paris 3-stars I've frequented, Pierre Gagnaire remains my favorite.

Thank you for your input. Although we considered Pierre Gagnaire, we wanted a more traditional and opulent dining room. I believe Gagnaire is more contemporary and minimalist from what I have read. Thanks again for your input.

I agree in part. Your mood and company makes a big difference in how much you enjoy but recently I was at the French Laundry in Napa, CA and thought the service was a bit busy. Too many waiters coming and going too often. I have tried Louis XV in Monaco and that was superb. You could barely feel the staff coming and going. I guess that is a personal preference.
