Romantic restaurant in Paris?

Looking for a romantic restaurant with reasonable prices and a decent veggie menu (g/f is vegetarian). I'm currently a student and don't really want to pay Le Cinq prices...yet ;)

Thx guys.

Take her to Le Cinq or Taillevent or (insert one of many outstanding places here) for lunch -- it is a bit of a compromise but you can have Michelin 3 star food for about 70 Euro per person..... while not cheap, it is worth every centime/ Eurocent/ pence......!!

How strict a vegetarian is she? If she eats fish or shellfish, then I would recommend Pomze. We went there for my birthday in April, and it was the best meal we've had so far since we moved to Paris. It is an apple-themed restaurant, but not in a modern, interesting way, not a tacky or "gimmick for gimmick's sake" way. Go to www.pomze.com. I had a quick look at the menu and I noted that, while there are two good veggie starters (one included in the 25 euro 3-course prix fixe), there are no vegan main courses, although there are a number of courses that shellfish or fish-based. The restaurant also might be open to preparing an interesting main for her. You can also have a "flight" of 3 ciders, matched to your courses. They were spectacular.

The restaurant is located in an attractive Haussmanian building in the 8th arr., with a warm, modern design. Service was great, and we saw half a dozen couples. You should reserve, though; it's a fairly small restaurant.

Yep, a real deal. Also Pierre Gagnaire has a wonderful lunch special.

I remember having the €70 lunch at Le Cinq. It was called le Menu du Marché.

But it seems that the market menu is no longer listed here as it has in the past:

Can someone confirm if Le Cinq still offers a reasonably priced lunch? Or have they gone the way of Alain Ducasse?

Thanks for the lunch suggestions. 70 Euros sounds very reasonable for Le Cinq! It's a restaurant that has always been high on my 'to try' list. Just don't have the cash to splurge on dinner there yet ;)

My nephew, who is vegan, has eaten at La Victoire Supreme de Coeur. He loved it.

There are some reviews of Paris vegetarian/vegan restaurants at the following link:

Pre- or after dinner drinks at "Georges" on top of the Centre Pompidou can be pretty romantic. Food is pretty pricey and as I recall (from 5 years ago) there weren't too many vegetarian options.

Im guessing that among the top level restaurants, L'Arpege might be the best for a vegatarian. Im not sure if they have any lunch specials. The chef there is known for his creative preparations of fruits and vegatables. They may have a vegatarian tasting meal but I cant remember for sure. I do remember a desert of a poached white peach and 150 year old balsamic vinager though that was to die for. He also has a trademark desert made from a tomato and some incredible salads.

L'Arpege is great and would be good for vegetarian. But the OP said he needs something reasonable, and L'Arpege is going to be 300-400 euros for two even if you eat cheap.

Thanks for pointing that out. I should have been more clear in my post. Thats why I said I didnt know if they had a lunch special. If they did it might be okay pricewise. I should have been more clear on the tab if they dont have a good lunch special ala Pierre Gagnaire and Taillevent.
