Do you realize that there is a FlyerTalk Do in Lyon on the weekend of April 28?
If you take a look at: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...=480612&page=1 you will be able to follow the activities of the group and get the reactions to the dining. It will encompass all levels of Lyon gastronomy right up to one with a toque. Of the two places that are firmly scheduled, Villa Florentine is famous and may price out above what you care to spend. The other is Le Nord, which is more casual, and you can learn a lot about that place on the thread. Also, as you probably well know, you will have trouble going wrong if you just wander into any bouchon that strikes your fancy. I have tried a few of them and do not remember their names, only vaguely where they were located in Vieux Lyon. Have a good trip and maybe we will bump into you along the way. |
Here's a thread about Lyon that discusses Lyon restaurants as well as some places to stay.

Gonna revive this thread given it's been about 8 years since the last post, and the link included in one of the comments isn't exactly recent. Will just have the one night there, and will be dining alone, so looking for the ultimate in food, and to a lesser, but still a high level of service. It seems Bocuse is out of the question given all of the negative hype. The idea still seems charming, but to be honest would rather put 80 euros in my pocket towards either wine or the hotel. Doesn't have to be Michelin starred, but given Lyon is the food capital it seems, I'm sure there must be at least one worth going to.

I liked 'les trois domes.' Out by the Hilton there was a modern place called 'trente-trois cite' that was good. Funny that both places have the number three in their names.
Edited to add... If you're willing to do an excursion, highly recommend is the restaurant "PIC" one hour's drive to the south in Valence. |
Waking this thread up... any recent experiences worth of your recommendations? Dining, things to see, do.

Restaurants change all the time, so google around. I just did and found this. https://www.thefork.com/restaurant+b...-lyonnais+lyon
I live near Lyon so when I'm there I just wander around and pick a restaurant on sight. There are most all pretty good. |
