Best Hotel for 18 hours at CDG

I am laying over at CDG on my way to Conakry, Guinea later this week.

For 18 hours, I don't think its worth it to head downtown. One of my favorite things to do is watch 747s take off and land. Do any of the CDG hotels allow for good plane spotting?

Any airport hotels to avoid?

Thanks!

18 hours at or near CDG?!?
I had one night at Radisson near CDG. I could see the planes starting and landing.
You have to ask the hotel for the best room in order to watch the planes.
The hotel has a shuttle to CDG.
The Hyatt CDG was much, much nicer, but no plane watching..

I would ride the RER to Latin Quarter/St Germain and take a hotel there. Many around. Wander around the area and go to the islands.

Eat most anywhere, probably a bistro, and go to the wine bar on Rue Buci.

747's are plentiful everywhere.

You will not have your baggage, unless unusual arrangements have been made, so carryon accordingly.

Thanks both for the suggestions. I will have luggage since two separate tix. But very light since I will be flying UN flights in the region -- they're extremely strict with luggage.

I like the idea of heading downtown and more and more. Can allways hit CDG early to watch the planes!

You might find a way to leave your baggage at CDG.

There is a direct RER:

TAKE THE RER B AT AEROPORT CHARLES DE GAULLE 2 TGV DIRECTION MASSY-PALAISEAU UNTIL SAINT-MICHEL NOTRE-DAME

Next stop would be Luxembourg...

AF used to give free day rooms at Sofitel CDG depending on your class of service, Z or higher I think. If you are with AF you should ask.

If you want to get a good workout in, go to the Hyatt which has a very good (for France) gym. The RC has a free internet terminal too.

Did you ask for a room with a view to see the planes?
BTW, this Radisson is in a tiny little village in the middle of nowhere. No pub, nothing ...

I really would recommend that you make a trip to Paris ... 18 hours at CDG is boring!

Very sad and a great shame. 18 hours in Paris is much more than all those peple get when they go for an "overnight stay"

Still we all learn and you'll be able to help others not make the same mistake.
