Dijon vs Lyon
 

My fiancee and I will be in France for 8 days We will be arriving into CDG and departing from LYS (Lyon). We're thinking of spending 5 days in Paris (museums, gardens, Versailles) and then the rest in Dijon and/or Lyon (a few museums but mostly wine and food). Are there enough vineyards and wineries in Lyon that we do not need to stop in Dijon? How would you split the 3 remaining days between Dijon and Lyon? Do you have any must-eats in Dijon or Lyon?

For accessibility to the vignobles, Dijon, or more specifically, the area around Beaune is easiest for tourists to figure out as they are all clustered around Beaune and the RD974 that runs to it from Dijon. But the centre-ville itself for Dijon isn't nearly as interesting as Lyon (which is the 2nd largest metropôle in France).

The wine regions near Lyon are actually to the north in the Beaujolais, which is roughly between Mâcon and Villefranche sur Sâone. Its an extension of the same low mountain range that runs south of Dijon. But a little farther from the centre of Lyon and a little more difficult to reach without a car. Similarly, the Côtes-du-Rhône wine region also starts about an 1h south of the metropôle lyonnaise so that also needs a car to get around.
