Paris hotel recommendation for 1 night (early arrival / late depature)
I originally had a < 24hr layover at CDG with an early morning departure and had booked an airport hotel. I changed my outbound flight and now have a bit more time. Figure it doesn't make sense to stay at a airport hotel anymore so looking for reco where to stay for my first time visiting Paris (specific hotel or area).
Flying solo into CDG from non-schengen. arriving on Dec 24 at 6:40AM. Flight within schengen at CDG T1 will be departing on Dec 25 at 8:35PM.
Should i stay in city centre or a bit further out closer to airport? I'm thinking probably best to find a hotel that has easy access to RER B back to CDG.
I will have luggage with me and don't want to lug it around all morning/afternoon. Do all hotels have secure luggage storage if I can't check-in yet? Or I should find one near luggage storage.. like a train station? I'm assuming wherever I stay I'd probably get there around 9AM.
I also don't want to be dragging around my luggage the next day since I assume check out will be around 11AM. Do hotels also allow secure luggage storage after you check out (around 5-6hours)? larger chains only? Or I'd have to find storage elsewhere? I'm assuming I'll have to start heading back to airport around 4:30PM to catch my flight

A hotel in the Latin Quarter will be central and near the RER. Other prime areas are around Les Halles Mall or the Marais district. Any hotel in Paris should have a luggage check room; storing luggage should be a non-issue but email the front desk ahead of time to ask, if the website does not specify.
Your schedule is perfect for seeing Paris. It will only take an hour on the train/subway to get from the airport into the heart of town. On the day you arrive, stores will be open and busy so get any shopping done before 6:00 (including commercial activities such as going to the gym and stopping at Starbucks). Christmas Day everything will be closed so youll only be able to sightsee.
Weather will be very cold so realistically you will not want to walk around outside too long. Choose a hotel with breakfast and enjoy the room and lobby until checkout time (bakeries will not be open). One idea is to start venturing out by walking along the Champs-Elysee. You could walk around the outside of Pompidou Center, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Montmarte.
Definitely do not stay somewhere in the outskirts of the city center because then you have to back track too far to the hotel to get your luggage when leaving for CDG. The Hyatt Regency and Le Meridian are my favorite mid-priced chain hotels, but with those you have 10 subway stops back to Etoile plus 10 subway stops back to Chatelet again. That will take an hour round-trip just to retrieve your luggage, on a normal schedule. But Christmas Day has reduced services and some subway lines do not operate.

There were so many to choose from, and I currently have a refundable booking at Htel Le 123 Sbastopol - Astotel. Haven't decided if I'll keep it yet. it's almost like an area that isn't super close to any attraction, but also not very far from everything either. and fairly easy to get to / from airport. I have Marriott Gold and Hilton Gold, but the locations for both weren't that attractive.
I've never left luggage with hotel front desk, always use lockers. I was looking at this earlier and saw that paris has a lot of luggage storage places around the city. might sound like a dumb question, but is it safe to leave with hotel front desk vs. a locker?
I was hoping that some attractions would be open on christmas day, so good to know. might have to do some of it on the 24th. Looks like average temp in Dec is around 5 degrees C which seems pretty decent coming from Canada hah.
For an 8:35PM flight on christmas day, what time should I plan to start heading to airport, 5PM?

A good guide on where to fine it and how it works is here. It is not the most apparent of locations. We had a very helpful policeman walk us there. One more note, they scan your luggage so it may take a few minutes to get your luggage stowed and it is all self service. Only the large lockers had credit card payment, the smaller ones required cash.
And just jumped on the RER train to the airport from there.
For departure time, do you have any status to skip any lines? That should be plenty of time, depending on where you leave from in the city. But if anything goes wrong..... Our train stopped for 15 minutes or so on the way to the airport. Not a big deal as we were staying the night before at an airport hotel.
ETA, if you keep this hotel, the stroll down Canal St. Martin is nice.
