Lyon and Avignon
 

My fiance/future wife and I will be traveling to Lyon and Avignon in late April/early May on our honeymoon and are looking for recommendations on hotels, wineries, etc. In most places we are Marriott loyalists however none are available and are looking for recommendations.

I like the Sofitel in Lyon - it's not the prettiest building, but it's a great central location on the Rhône and a good bar with a view on the 8th floor.

Not sure if you've been to Lyon before, but it's a lovely compact city that is easy to get around on foot. And then there's the food..... Depending on your/your fiancé's level of squeamishness, you should try a traditional Bouchon while you are in Lyon. Your concierge will no doubt have a recommendation, otherwise use the Michelin.

Re wines, are you driving from Lyon to Avignon"?
