Weekend in Strasbourg

We will be staying a weekend in Strasbourg. Any recommendations for a nice/local/cozy hotel in the city center (or in a nice suburb)?

There are no shortage of lodgings and Strasbourg isn't an expensive city. But you have to be more specific (budget, * rating, etc....) for us to help further.

There's a Mercure Centre Petite France that's halfway between the gare centrale and historic centre that's decent.

I'm looking for a hotel with cozy/local atmosphere giving some flair of Strasbourg
No hotel chain, no sterile look&feel, no huge hotel block/building
Budget 150-300EUR (single room), Rating > 3 star

I have been to at least a dozen different hotels in Strasbourg, but I go to the chain hotels when I am not staying with friends because I can't stand the silly frou frou of the quaint places. This is the year 2022 and I feel no need to pretend that I am in 1922. However, there are plenty of old hotels in Strasbourg as well, as a site like hotels.com will tell you.

It's funny though not to want "sterile" because for the last two years, people have wanted "sterile" very much in hotel rooms.

^agree. If you want a more antique style lodging, I guess you'd be perhaps better served by an airbnb rental. In France, hotel chains dominate, and usually offer the best value. The déco is occasionally nice and varied, but clean/crisp is the rule of the day as that's what most travellers want....

Even though it is an Accor hotel, Hôtel Cour du Corbeau has, in my personal experience, some local flair, and I enjoyed it.

Hôtel des Haras is outside the city center and I haven't tried it yet, but will do some day.

Just wrapped up a 3 night stay at the Regent Hotel and Spa Petit France. It felt like a 4 star hotel masquerading as a luxury property, but the location was perfect. Unfortunately, the streets were closed off for the Christmas markets, so we almost missed our train out of town.

I will be in Strasbourg for 3 nights in early May. So far I have reservations at Hotel Gutenberg. Not needing 5-star luxury or trying to stick to a hostel budget, this seems to fit the location/cost/quality blend I was looking for.
