Versailles

Hi, planning my first visit (ever) to Versailles. Late March (25 - 30).

Are the fountains working by then?

Also, on my last visit, they offered a combo metro and museum pass. Is that still being sold?

Thanks

Apparently not.

"From April 4th to November 1st 2020, enjoy the Musical Fountains Shows and the Musical Gardens in the Gardens and the groves open for the occasion"

The Paris Pass does have museum and Metro passes built in, but is very expensive. The Museum Pass plus a Navigo Decouverte will be more economical and also cover the ride in from CDG, if you get it at the airport, and the ride to/from Versailles.

The Paris Museum Pass is a good deal if you know you'll be visiting some of the other main attractions in Paris, otherwise just buying individual tickets will probably be cheaper. As far as transit goes, a Navigo card plus the applicable pass will likely be your best option. If you need to purchase a new navigo card make sure you bring a passport sized photo with you, otherwise you will need to use one of the omnipresent photo booths in your first station to get the photo which needs to be attached to the card.

The space for the picture on the Navigo card is actually a bit smaller than a 2x2 (inches) US passport photo. The size for the picture on the Navigo card is 3cm x 2.5 cm, or about 1.2x1.0 (inches). I figured out my drivers license picture is almost exactly that size. So I just copied that and cut out the photo, and brought it with me to paste onto the Navigo card. Saved me 5 euros for the photo at the station, and a couple of minutes.

You could also scan your passport photo and resize it to 3x2.5 cm using a site like this.

You're right that it is a little smaller than a US Passport size photo. Only used passport photo as an easy to get format for an American traveling to Paris. They will take a passport photo, trimmed a little to fit, if that's what you provide them at the booth. Can't go wrong with either way to save the 5 euros.

In addition to the photo, do not forget to print your name in the space provided before you use the card. When using a Navigo card, you must still validate it each time you use it. The most likely place to forget to validate is when boarding a bus. If you forget and are caught, the fine is 5€.
