Are there security checkpoints at tourist attractions?

Does anyone know if the tourist attractions like Eiffel Tower, Catacombs, Lovre etc. have security checkpoints (i.e metal detector, xray machines) . Trying to decide if I should bring my backpack with my camera stuff while walking around Paris visit all the tourist attractions or just bring very small bag.

Major museums all have quick and efficient security checkpoints.

Eiffel Tower has Airport-Style security before you enter the main area below the tower itself, and another check just before the lifts.

Hello,
almost all major paris attractions are closely monitored by past events and there are metal detectors and watchdogs at every entrance to check your bags and more
Paris is now very secure, with surveillance and protection systems really in many places be it museum, attraction, department stores, metro
