VAT Refund: Berlin or CDG
hi, found similar threads, but nothing quite answering what I'm looking for. seems to be another thread for LHR vs CDG, but considering LHR is not exactly EU, thought it might differ.
will be flying PVG-CDG-TXL in december. planning to buy some stuff in berlin. when getting VAT refund, do i do it in Berlin airport or in CDG during my transit? i will not have check-in baggage if it matters. both segments will be on AF ticket and metal, so i would assume i will have both boarding passes issued at check-in. so i will not be exiting airside at CDG. will they allow me to do VAT refund at Berlin? or must it be at my last port of exit from the EU (in CDG)? if so, does it mean i have to exit to landslide, queue for godknowshowlong and reenter airside? my transit is only 1h55m. thanks! |

I think your confusing with schengen |
Has to be in CDG. The TXL-CDG leg is an intra-Schengen flight.
I don't see an airside customs office in CDG 2 E/F departures level. There may be one but I don't see it. That would be your best bet. FRA has or had an airside customs office good for this. |
Should be at CDG according to the rules if hand luggage only, but not if the bags are checked. I would try at TXL as you can get the stamp before departure and I doubt you need to show evidence that you checked a bag. If that fails and you can't get the stamp at CDG, Some countries consulates also provide the stamp (not sure about Germany). Lastly, you have three months to get the stamp. So if you take it back to Europe and have receipts you can do it then (I have).
