Monaco Passport Stamp

If anyone has information on how to get a passport stamp while in Monaco I would appreciate it.

Looking at a trip to Monaco in January. I will be there on a Saturday and Sunday. Most of the stuff I have found is dated. There was something (dated) that said one of the hotels could stamp a passport. Is that still true?

It sounds like the tourism office is the place to get a passport stamped. Does anyone know if this is still the case? if so are they open on the weekends? hours?

Thank you!

There used to be a tourist office upstairs at the train station that was able to stamp your passport but this was a while ago. If not, I think there is one near the casino too.

I wasn't aware that one needed a passport stamp when going from France into Monaco.

You don't need a stamp but some people like to collect them.

I've heard of doing this at the Vatican, but never in Monaco. Please let us know if it worked out!

San Marino does it too, the only time I've ever been stamped at the top of a ski slope.

Vatican City stopped doing stamps sadly.
San Marino still does, though for IIRC 5 Euros in town.

Curious to hear about Monaco:cool:

Monaco-Heliport and Monaco-Port have immigration/customs officials -- at least at some times. IIRC those authorities are French and/or at least not subordinate to Monaco but are subordinate to France; in other words, it would be France that carries out the external border controls at those two authorized external border crossings into the Schengen Zone, and that is not a result of a Monaco-Schengen Agreement but that is a result (at least initially) of bilateral agreement(s) between France and Monaco.

I've not received any stamps at Monaco's heliport or port, but some have. I wouldn't be shocked if it is a French stamp.

Yes, Monaco still does the passport stamp. An email to the Monaco Tourism office said that I should go to the tourist information office in Monte Carlo (a couple of blocks from the casino) and that they were open on the weekends. If anyone is interested they should check the office's hours because they seemed to take a pretty long lunch and their hours might change based on the season.

Just like Philhayes said - upstairs at the train station at the tourist office you are able to get a passport stamp. I did not see any signs or mention of it anywhere in the tourist office but I asked the lady how to get to the tourist office by the casino and if they would stamp my passport. She gave me the instructions but also told me that she could provide the stamp right there. The easiest passport stamp I ever received.

Side note: sorry to hear about the Vatican not stamping passports. I was there a month ago and did not even think about it because I had read several years ago that they did not do passport stamps. I was unaware that they did passport stamps at one time. I imagine that it would have had some character to the stamp (unlike an EU rectangle stamp).

Thank you all for the assistance.

There are reports that at least one OECD Country -- Canada at least -- has sometimes considered "commemorative"passports stamps from say "tourism" offices to be a sign of damage to the passport and thus messing up passport renewal applications by persons who seek out and get the tourist stamp thing.

I'm pretty sure any passport stamp you get in Monte Carlo will say Monaco, as that's the name of the country. :)

See post #8 this is why I'm asking.

Ah, got it. I hadn't considered the possibility that Monaco could be your point of entry into the Schengen area. Given that it's a port and has a heliport, there are probably quite a few people who enter there. I guess you could ask the French consulate or the Monaco tourist office about the details.
