Sights/Views When Flying ORD-CDG in Jan/Feb?
 

We will be flying this route in late Jan/early Fab. I wonder what's the chance of spotting the aurora borealis, or even during the descend, spotting the Eiffel tower.

The plane is scheduled to touchdown at 940am, so there will be light outside for sure.

We haven't flown this route since 2000. Anyone care to share?:)

p.s. our seats are now 6J/6K in C at the moment.

As CDG is 25 miles northeast of central Paris I'd think the chances of seeing the Eiffel Tower would be low unless the weather clear and the flight plan took it over the city.

Not much to see on descent, no Tour Eiffel either. You probably will pass over the peaceful countryside of Normandy, nice farms and villages, but nothing spectacular. Fairly flat countryside. The patterns don't usually go over Paris at all.

A great view of the Tower can be had on foot from the highest parts of Belleville, though. Or several other spots. Paris is fairly unique in that there are no tall buildings (Save the Montparnasse mistake) anywhere around the center.

Thanks for the confirmation, I am switching to seat 6A/6B. Maybe with luck, I will see the northern lights.

Actually. I'll disagree -- since CDG is to the east, it's not uncommon to see the tower poking up in the distance as you pass the city.

What time do you get in though? Remember sun comes up very late in winter.
