RER B closure to CDG

Just thought I'd let everyone know that the train (RER B) to CDG will be closed for "travaux" (works) a few weekends in September, October and November. You will have to transfer to a bus.

Here is the link to the PDF information (in French).

ATTENTION !

Due to RER commuter train line B upgrade work no trains will run between Aulnay-sous-Bois and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport on the weekends of 11/12 September, 2/3 and 9/10 October and 6/7 November.

Transilien SNCF advises you to plan one hour more to come to the airport.

A bus service from Roissypole bus station replaces the trains for the duration.

Good to know that there will be closures during the day.

BTW, this is an extension to previous evening closures as detailed in the RER B : from Jan 10, 2010, late evening replacement bus service from CDG to Aulnay thread in the AF/KL forum. These should probably be consolidated and kept in the France forum given the non-AF/KL-specific nature of the news. Mods have been alerted.

Peace.

Got caught out by RER closure last night (Sunday 10:30
pm) arriving at CDG, so decided to take a taxi instead of joining the crowds waiting for the buses. Didn't check the earlier threads, so would be good to alert other travelers.

And one from Aeroports de Paris /www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Passagers/Access-maps-car-parks/Paris-CDG/Access/public-transport/

Thanks for the heads op !
Some years ago I had an early Sunday morning flight and was caught unaware of work on the B line that weekend . Waited and waited at the St Michel station for the train until I noticed a poster about "travaux aux ligne" and directions to take RER B to Mitry-Claye instead. Thankfully the shuttle bus called on T1 first and I managed to make my flight with just minutes to spare.

Boy Am I Glad I bumped into this post!!!

I have a flight back to New York 11am on Nov. 7th.

Does anyone know how long the lines at Mitry-Claye have been during these disruptions? Or is better off just taking the coach bus straight from Paris?

What would I have done without flyertalk?^

Given the choice, Iīd probably take the coach. If you take the train you have to factor in some extra time. Hard to say how much , but at least half an hour. There might be some waiting time at the station for the shuttle bus and as you donīt know in what order the shuttle will call at the different terminals , that could also add considerable time. When I got rerouted through Mitry-Claye once, the first stop for the shuttle busses at CDG was T1. Very lucky for me or I wouldnīt have made my flight.

I too never noticed this thread. I was caught by this a couple weeks ago. I had to take the CDGVAL from T2 to Monopole, then jumped on the free bus to Mitry and then the RER from there into the city. It wasn't that bad.

There is another round of weekend closures coming up, of the RER B line between Paris and CDG, due to maintenance work:

March 26 - 27, April 2 -3 and April 9 - 10 (2011)

There will be a replacement bus service between Mitry-Claye and the CDG terminals. Allow an extra 30 - 40 minutes for the journey.

no RER to CDG again

It seems the RER to CDG is under construction again this year, on weekends until some time in June 2013 (at least).

I've been caught off guard by this twice, since the first time they only announced works up to Feb. 22.

Quite ridiculous, really. Why can there be a fast Tokyo-Osaka train every 10 minutes all week long, but not even a slowish train to France's main airport?

Sucks about the RER, but to be fair CDG has many high speed trains going in and out all the time to various cities in France and Belgium. Just not to Paris.

Yup, I too got caught off guard last weekend when I went to send off my girlfriend. Luckily we stayed at the Novotel CDG Terminal (at Aeroport CDG 1 station) the night before. In fact one of the reasons why I do night-before stays at one of the airport hotels (either Sheraton or one of the Accor) before morning flights is the FUBAResque nature of RER B (obviously mattress runs are another reason...). Too bad because RER B is actually fairly convenient for me as I am on Ligne 2 and it's a straight run to La Chapelle/Gare du Nord.

To be fair, the transfer to/from the bus was seamless. Guess SNCF do it so often, its like second nature.

Is there somewhere that I can find specifics on the closures?

We will be arriving at CDG on 30 March and departing 6 April. Both are morning flights.

Plan was to take the RER B to Gare du Nord, then transfer ultimately ending at Gare de Lyon.

Thanks in advance!!
